Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne has donated £1,000 to replace a young disabled girl's speech machine after it was stolen by callous yobs.

Paul Johnson posted on Twitter on Thursday night that his daughter Miya Thirlby's speech machine had been stolen from their car in the Plymouth area.

The big-hearted former Ibrox star showed his generosity and responded to her father's desperate Twitter appeal.  The tweet said: “Can everyone who sees this retweet this please. My daughter had her speech machine stolen out of the car.

“Its her only way of communicating with us. It was very pricey so it cant be easily replaced.

“Poor girl now cant speak to us again!! #Nufc #getmiyasvoiceback #help #plymouth”

The 50-years-old football icon, who recently returned to Twitter after a period of ill health, was quick to reply to the plea saying:  “I’ll donate a £1000 now towards a new one for ya, get it touch wiv us Love GAZZA xxxx”

Sports stars including Alan Shearer and Andy Murray retweeted his plea for information about the sophisticated equipment's whereabouts.
