  Five units of Dublin Fire Brigade battle city centre blaze Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus have fought a blaze at a building on Dublin's Gardiner Street this morning. The alarm was raised just before 7am when the fire was detected. Five units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene backed up by a District Officer and Advanced Paramedics.Smoke could be seen pouring from the front door of the Georgian building, which is used as offices, on the corner of Gardiner Street Lower and Deverell Place as the fire crews tackled the fire.There were no immediate reports of injuries but the building will have to be searched once the fire is extinguished.

A fourteen-year-old girl - named locally as Demi Pearson - died at the scene of the blaze in Jackson Street, Worsley, on Monday morning, with an eight-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl later dying in hospital.

Another three-year-old girl is fighting for her life following the fire and the children's 35-year-old mother - named locally as Michelle Pearson - is in a serious condition.

Police say a 20-year-old family member has been arrested in connection to the fatal fire in Sterling Heights this morning. According to police, crews rushed in around 3 a.m. after hearing someone was trapped inside the home. A 17-year-old was pulled out of the house by firefighters , but did not survive.
