Cape Town - While trying to take pics close to a wild elephant , two tourists were trampled to death in Zambia on Saturday. According to AFP, a 64-year-old Dutch man and a 57-year-old Belgium woman were on safari at Maramba River Lodge in Livingstone.

Two tourists have been trampled to death by an elephant after they got too close to the animal while taking pictures.

Police in Zambia said the holidaymakers were killed on Saturday while on safari.

"A lady from Belgium aged 57 and a 64-year-old man from the Netherlands were killed as they went close to the elephant trying to take photographs," said police spokesman Danny Mwale.

The pair were visitors at the Maramba River Lodge in the town of Livingstone and were watching the animals as they came close to the lodge.

According to ZNBC news, one elephant charged at the Belgian woman after she approached it. The Dutch man was trampled as he tried to rescue her.

A Dutch and a Belgian tourist were trampled to death by an elephant in Zambia as they got too close to the animal when trying to take pictures, police said on Sunday. Cases of tourists killed by wild animals while on safari are often reported across southern Africa.

They both suffered multiple injuries in the attack.

African media reports described "an influx" of elephants in Livingstone and cited another elephant attack in which a security officer was trampled on his way to work.

Partner of murdered man dies suddenly in her home .
The partner of a man who was murdered by a member of a rival motorcycle club has passed away suddenly. Catherine Danaher, whose partner Andrew 'AOD' O'Donoghue was killed in 2015, was found dead in her home on Wednesday.Ms Danaher had spoken of her heartache following the death of her beloved partner who was described as a "hero" during the trial following his death.The couple had been together since their teens and had one daughter together.Fr Loughlin Brennan, parish priest of Murroe-Boher, described Ms Danaher as an “absolute lady”.
