  Qatari to be executed for killing British teacher A Qatari man who stabbed a British teacher to death and burned her body is set to be executed after a court upheld his death sentence. Badr Hashim Khamis Abdallah al Jabr was found guilty of killing Lauren Patterson, 24, and dumping her body in a desert near Doha in October 2013.Jabr met Miss Patterson at a hotel in the Qatari capital and later allegedly sexually assaulted her before stabbing her to death with a seven-inch blade.He took her body to a desert and burned it on charcoal bricks with the help of accomplice Mohamed Abdallah Hassan Abdul Aziz, who was later jailed for three years.

The mother of Katie Rough , 7, has paid tribute to her daughter in a heartbreaking Facebook post. Her mum Alison, 38, posted her first Facebook status since the tragic event today. ‘My beautiful beautiful sassy, kind, amazing girl.

Mrs Rough previously paid tribute to her ' beautiful . sassy, kind and amazing ' daughter on Facebook and revealed a picture of tattoos in her memory. One, which appears to be on her wrist says ' Katie ', while another Dr Seuss-inspired one could be on her husband Paul's arm.

The mother of a seven-year-old girl who was killed in York has paid tribute to her “beautiful” and “amazing” daughter.

Katie Rough died in January after she was found with severe lacerations to her neck and chest on a playing field.

Her parents have now arranged a charity event which will take place in June to remember Katie and thank everyone who has helped the family.

Her mother, Alison Rough, told the Yorkshire Post: “She was happy to be outside and kicking in the mud. She was not a traditional girly-girl at all. She was a strong-willed girl.

Mrs Rough, 39, said she wanted her daughter to be remembered for who she was rather than how she died.

She described how Katie loved going to the seaside town of Filey where she collected pebbles called her “special things”.

The planned event will take place at Acorn Rugby Club in York on June 9, from 5pm. The family said a memorial bench is also due to be unveiled at York Museum Gardens later in the summer.

A 15-year-old girl has appeared in court accused of murdering Katie. She is due to go on trial in Leeds on July 3.
