Goncalo Amaral, who led the original search for the missing toddler, has said he intends to ‘clean out’ her parents Kate and Gerry by suing them, alleging that they damaged his reputation.

57-year-old Amaral wrote a book about the abduction, claiming that Madeleine’s parents were in fact responsible for her death, writing that she died at their Praia de Luz apartment, and that Kate and Gerry proceeded to cover it up.

Meanwhile, Amaral is said to be penning a second book about Maddie’s disappearance.

This May will mark the tenth anniversary of the three-year-old’s abduction.

Scotland Yard were allocated further funding this year to continue investigations into the case until at least October.

Met Police rules out its only McCann suspects .
The only four official suspects investigated by the Met Police over the abduction of Madeleine McCann have been ruled out of the inquiry. But Scotland Yard insists it is still investigating one significant lead.Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley told Sky News: "We have one significant line of inquiry which is worth pursuing and because it's worth pursuing it could provide an answer."The suspects were believed by Scotland Yard to have taken her during a burglary gone wrong at the McCanns' rented holiday apartment in Portugal.
