  Watch: Woman rescues baby dolphin that got stranded on Irish beach This is the moment a woman rescued a stranded baby dolphin that got washed ashore and trapped on an Irish beach. Jenni Hanninen, from Finland, was out horse riding with friends when they came across the dolphin after it got into trouble on Seapoint Beach in Termonfeckin, Louth.

Brave volunteers from the Bunmahon Coast Guard carried out the cliff rescue when the colt took a tumble onto a ledge.

The Coast Guard members rescued the foal, which has appropriately been named Cliff, after climbing down to the ledge and taking him to safety.

Thankfully, Cliff was fine after the ordeal and was seen no worse for wear in a number of photos uploaded to social media.

Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 117 was called to the scene and the man was transferred to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries are described as serious but not life-threatening.

‘Cliff Rescue! (Cliff is the name of the horse),’ the Irish Coast Guard posted on Twitter.

‘Bonmahon Coast Guard was requested for a four-legged cliff rescue yesterday when a young colt fell from a cliff.

‘The team quickly set up a cliff system and lowered climbers to the stricken animal, now named Cliff.’

Bunmahon Coast Guard also took to Facebook over the incident, they wrote: ‘We were delighted to be able to help out this little guy yesterday.’

Following his rescue, Waterford Animal Welfare were then requested to take the colt into care.

Cliff was immediately transported by to a foster home in Kildare, with the support of My Lovely Horse Rescue.

Waterford Animal Welfare posted on Facebook: ‘This is the second time Waterford Animal Welfare were involved in pony rescues in the area.

‘A huge thank you to the Bunmahon Coast Guard for their compassion and professionalism today and in the past at other animal rescues.’
