The local community of Clar Co. Donegal have paid tribute to a 14 year old local boy who was killed in a tragic car crash yesterday. 

The teenager lost control of the car he was driving on Friday evening shortly before 6pm on a road on the Inishowen Peninsula.

Local councillor Martin Freeman said the boy was ‘very well-loved and had his whole life ahead of him’.

The councillor said that the boy and his family were very well respected. He said the community in Donegal is numb after the tragic accident.

‘He was just starting summer holidays after just finishing his second year at Moville Community School and is the oldest of three siblings in his family. I can only imagine what his parents are going through and offer my sympathies, thoughts and prayers,’ he added.


The teenager, who just finished his second year at Moville Community College, was the only person in the car when the incident took place and fire services, gardaí and an ambulance rushed to the accident but the boy was pronounced dead on the scene.The accident happened between the the towns of Moville and Redcastle, close to an area known as Clar.

His body was brought to Letterkenny General Hospital and the road will remain closed for the Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to launch their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
