A man was found with a serious head injury this morning less than 500 metres from the scene of this week's horror shooting in Bray.

The man was rushed to hospital after being discovered unconscious at around 2 o'clock this morning.

Gardai in the seaside town are investigating the incident which occurred on Bray Main Street - just a two-minute walk from Bray Boxing Club, where popular grandfather Bobby Messett was shot dead on Tuesday.

Emergency services and Gardai attended the scene, and gardai are appealing for witnesses.

Gardai said the men had sustained serious injuries in the attack in Bray , Co Wicklow. Pete Taylor was one of three men targeted by a gunman wearing a balaclava in the attack at the Bray Boxing Club .

A garda spokesman said: "Investigating Gardaí are currently investigating all aspects of this incident to establish the facts. The scene is sealed off to facilitate a Garda forensic examination.

The area around the Royal Hotel remains sealed off while Seapoint Road remains close from its junction onto Bray Main Street.

This is the second serious incident to rock the busy seaside town in a matter of days, the injured man was found less than 500 metres from the scene of a brutal murder.

On Tuesday a gunman stormed the Bray Boxing Club, opening fire on a group of innocent gym goers before escaping down Seapoint Road.

Tragic Mr Messett was buried yesterday while two others were injured, including boxing coach Pete Taylor - the father of Olympic champion Katie Taylor,

It is unknown at this stage of the investigation if the two incidents are linked but Gardai are examining all aspects of the incident.
