  Man, 21, shot in leg in Cherry Orchard Gardai and emergency services are at the scene of a shooting in Dublin on Thursday.The shooting is understood to have happened at 8.05pm in the Cherry Orchard area of Dublin.A garda spokeswoman confirmed the incident to Dublin Live, and said that a man aged 21-years-old was shot in the leg at Cherry Orchard Parade.His injuries are understood to not be life-threatening, and he was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries including pellet fragments in his leg.Gardai remain at the scene this evening, along with Dublin Fire Brigade.

Dubliner Klaudia Rachwal was just 23-years-old when she suffered Locked-In Syndrome as a result of a stroke in 2015.

For five months she could hear and see everything around her, but was only able to move her eyes.

Recalling the experience, she said: “It was really scary. I was trying to move, but I just couldn’t. My body just wouldn’t do anything.

“I knew what I wanted to say but my body wouldn’t allow me to make the movement or to make a sound.

“I woke up and I was 100% with it. I could remember everything but I couldn’t move anything."

With the help of her family, they worked out a way to communicate.

The trainee clinical data manager at Beaumont Hospital told The Sun: “Luckily, my family came in and told me to look at the door if I could hear them, so we were able to work out a way to communicate quite quickly.

“They’d point at letters in the alphabet and I would blink when I wanted them to stop, so we could spell out words.

“They were amazing. They helped me with everything I needed and encouraged me the whole way.”

After months of hard work the former UCD student's ability to talk, walk and stand with a frame returned.

She is now hoping to raise awareness of the condition.
