Amy Fitzpatrick Amy Fitzpatrick

The aunt of missing Amy Fitzpatrick, who vanished 10 years ago yesterday, says "there's always hope that they'll get her back".

Christine Kenny revealed her family will never stop looking for Amy, who went missing when she was 15 years old on New Years Day in 2008.

On the 10th anniversary of her disappearance, the family of the tragic teen held a vigil outside Mansion House, Dublin.

Along with Amy's family members, Christine released white doves to mark the sad occasion and also appealed for anyone with information about the teen's disappearance to come forward.

Amy spent New Years with her friends before leaving to walk home at 10pm the following day, but the young teen never arrived.

Her dad Christopher was too unwell to attend yesterday's ceremony but on behalf of the family Christine told the vigil: "Nothing has been found to indicate that she has passed. There's always the hope that we will get her back."

"It's ten years on and we would plead to the people that knew Amy, and knew of her lifestyle, to remember her.

"People that didn't sign their police statements, please sign them. This would give closure to Amy."

The Herald reports that Christine believes "fresh eyes" are needed on the case as the family say they are frustrated with the efforts of Spanish police.

The 23-year-old was stabbed to death in 2013 by step-dad Dave Mahon who is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence for manslaughter.

Dean, 23, received a stab wound to the abdomen outside the apartment his mum Audrey shared with Mahon at Burnell Square, Northern Cross, on the Malahide Road.

Mahon claimed his stepson's death was an accident or possible suicide and that the 23-year-old had ‘walked into the knife’ while they had been arguing.

Christine said: "The way it happened with Dean, we're brokenhearted and Christopher is devastated."
