The men did not apply for bail and they were remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison for one week.

The seven accused are David Mulvey (35), Gerard Hogg (33) and Robert Gaynor (27) all of Berryfield Drive in Finglas, and Dean Thomas (26) of Glenties Drive in Finglas; Scott Capper (28), of Capppgh Green in Finglas, Paul Brannigan (28) of Tuiterath, Balrath, Navan, Co Meath and Dean Smith (24) of Scribblestown Green in Finglas.

The men appeared before Blanchardstown District Court this morning charged with violent disorder at The Cardiff Inn, Cardiffsbridge Road in Finglas on October 19 last.

The men were charged following a fight in a pub involving at least 10 men.

Lawyers for the accused told Judge Miriam Walsh that they were not making any applications for bail today.

Judge Walsh remanded the men in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday.

Gardai gave details of arresting the men at their homes early yesterday morning. The accused were taken to garda stations in Finglas, Ballymun and Clondalkin where they were detained for questioning.

The court heard that the men were subsequently charged with violent disorder. They were handed true copies of the charge sheets and they made no reply to the charges after caution, except for Mr Brannigan who replied, "it's b******s, it's not me".

The court heard that the men were unemployed and on social welfare and defence solicitors Emer O'Sullivan, Simon Fleming, Tony Collier and Kelly Breen were assigned on free legal aid.

The men have not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
