  Man (34) hospitalised after suffering serious injuries in 'machete attack' A 34-year-old man was seriously injured after he was assaulted with what he believes was a machete. The incident involving another man occurred on the Dublin road, Dundalk around 11pm on Saturday night.  The man - who received a serious injury to his sternum/chest area - is currently being treated in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.Gardai are following a definite line of enquiry and have preserved the area on the Dublin road.They have also preserved the house the man made his way to in nearby Mullagharlin Park.A Garda spokesman said efforts are continuing to locate the second man involved.

GARDAI have arrested six people as they seized €250,000 as part of a major operation targeting an international crime gang in Dublin this morning.

Photo: Stock picture A major garda crackdown on drugs and organised crime has seen 24 people arrested in South Dublin over the past two weeks.

The 24 have been charged and will appear before Tallaght District Court on Monday, July 24.

In a statement, gardai said that 74 buys were made during the operation.

The crackdown is part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the Tallaght area.

The operation was launched in mid-2016 by the Street Purchasing Unit attached to the Drugs and Organised Crime Unit and with intelligence from the Tallaght Drugs Unit.

Six people have been arrested as part of an investigation into the supply of cocaine from Europe to Australia and New Zealand. Gardaí say the operation is indicative of the scale of the Kinahan gang's international drug dealing operation .

Man stabbed and beaten outside court .
A Dublin man was attacked by three thugs armed with a baseball bat and a knife in broad daylight outside a court in the capital. The victim, who is from Tallaght, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. The attack took place outside Tallaght District Court.It's understood warrants were outstanding for the 24-year-old man and he was on his way in to court to address these matters when he was targeted by the gang of three.He is very well known to gardaí in relation to drugs, trespassing and burglaries. The incident took place at about 12.30pm. The victim was last night recovering from his injuries.
