  Man arrested in connection with 2012 Donegal shooting of man who had fled to the county The man, in his early 50s, was arrested yesterday morning in the County Donegal area. He is currently detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended.Gardaí have said that the 24-year-old had moved to Donegal after he became the target of the vigilante group Republican Action Against Drugs in his native Derry. The alleged assault happened Cathal Brugha Barracks in Rathmines.

Gardaí are investigating the alleged serious sexual assault of a woman with special needs who is believed to have been targeted after becoming separated from a woman who was accompanying her on Wednesday.

The woman made a complaint to gardaí at around 3am this morning after she was allegedly assaulted at Cathal Brugha Barracks in Rathmines, Dublin 6.

It is understood the allegations relate to an incident which it is claimed happened after two soldiers brought the woman, who is not a member of the Defence Forces, back to the barracks.

"Gardaí at Rathmines are investigating an alleged assault on a female which allegedly occurred at Cathal Brugha Barracks at approximately 2am on April 12," a garda spokesman said.

No arrests have been made to date.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces said: "We can confirm that the Military Police are assisting Gardaí with an investigation" but due to the ongoing investigation said it would "not be appropriate to comment any further at this time".

Gardaí investigating after man dies in Cliffs of Moher parachute jump .
A man in his mid-forties has died after a parachute jump went tragically wrong early today. The incident happened at around 7.00am at Aill Na Searrach part of the Cliffs of Moher range in Co Clare.Gardaí confirmed to they are now investigating the sudden death. Three men had gone to the area early today to undertake a so-called ‘base jump’. Base jumping is when people jump from a fixed structure or cliff wearing a parachute or wingsuit.It’s understood the first man completed a safe jump, however tragedy struck for the second jumper.
