A group of children were left stuck inside two government schools in Jammu's Nowshera sector after Pakistan Army started indiscriminate firing across the Line of Control (LoC).

After the ceasefire violation by Pakistan, security forces were trying to rescue kids safely from the schools. According to reports, 12 primary school children have already been rescued.

Indian Army is retaliating strongly to Pakistan's firing from across the LoC.

Jammu : Pakistani troops on Saturday resorted to heavy shelling of several civilian areas near the Heavy firing at Nowshera , 2 killed/ ABP News image. In the wake of Pakistani shelling, schools along the LoC in Rajouri were shut for an indefinite period as a precautionary measure, officials said.

Nowshera , May 23: To stop infiltration from Pakistan , the Indian Army launched an attack across Line of Control in Nowshera , Jammu and Kashmir on May 9 destroying as many as five Pakistani posts.

During the day, Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire by shelling mortars and firing in Rajouri and Poonch districts along LoC.

An alert has been sounded for civilians near the LoC with instructions to stay indoors. A population of 4,500-5,000 in the villages of Panjgrain, Rajdhani and Naika in the Rajouri-Poonch belt was affected due to the shelling by Pakistani troops.

"The Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatic weapons and mortars from 0645 hours in the Bhimbher Gali (Rajouri) and Poonch sectors along the Line of Control," a Defence spokesperson said.

Today was the second consecutive day when Pakistan targeted civilian areas with indiscriminate firing. Yesterday, an Indian army soldier and an 8-year-old girl were killed in Poonch. Immediately after the attack, India warned Pakistan that that it reserves the right to retaliate to any provocation across the LoC.
