Everton are interested in signing Barcelona defender Lucas Digne, as well as teammate Yerry Mina this summer.

New manager Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands have yet to make their mark on the Everton team they have inherited, but are both said to be desperate to refresh the squad with youth and quality and have been in contact with a number of ambitious targets.

Leading their list of defensive reinforcements is the Catalan club’s defensive duo, who have both struggled for minutes at the Nou Camp.

While the club’s pursuit of Mina has been frequently covered in the media, Digne is a relatively new name thrown in the mix, after Everton walked away from a deal for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.

Everton looking to beat La Liga side to Portugal international

Everton looking to beat La Liga side to Portugal international Everton are reportedly desperate to hijack Real Betis to the signing of Portugal international William Carvalho. The Toffees have been perennially linked with a move for the defensive midfield player and according to claims from Portuguese news outlet Record, they are joined by Monaco in their efforts to make a late move for the player. Carvalho is continuing to push for an exit from Sporting CP and it was believed that Betis were on the verge of completing a deal to land him this summer. However, Record believe that there is still a chance that Everton could finally secure a deal for Carvalho, as Marco Silva looks to reunite with the powerful midfielder. It’s believed, though, that in order for the Toffees to seal the transfer for Carvalho, they will need to sell before they buy. The report indicates that Everton will need to first make room for the potential arrival of the 26-year-old if they are to pip Betis to his signing in time.

While friendlies against good opposition is a start, playing in La Liga would be the perfect build-up, if selected. The former Everton and Blackburn striker admits it will not be easy. Initial interest fades quickly when a star does not feature and resentment can result.

The 24-year French left-back, who was on France’s stand-by list for the World Cup, is believed to keen on leaving Catalonia this summer, due in part to his limited minutes on the pitch since he moved to Spain.

Barcelona brought him to Spain from Paris Saint-Germain for around €16million in 2016, and after a promising start the Frenchman failed to establish himself as a permanent first-team fixture.

The Telegraph reports that Digne has asked to leave this summer, a request which is likely to be granted, with Everton williing to pay over £10million to sign the defender. Juventus are also believed to be interested.

Mina though, could be more difficult to land, with it not clear whether Barcelona want to sell or loan the 23-year old Colombian, although Everton are keen on securing a deal either way.

Man Utd plotting season-long loan move for Ousmane Dembele .
Manchester United are keen to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele on a season-long loan and have reportedly submitted a bid for the Frenchman, according to a report on the Mirror. Dembele had a disappointing first season at the Camp Nou following his big-money move from Borussia Dortmund last summer. The young Frenchman only started 14 times across all competitions for the La Liga champions last season and is an option for United to sign on loan as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his squad to challenge for the Premier League next season. The Catalan club are reportedly open to the idea of sending him out on loan to help with his confidence and development and United are ready to pounce, with fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool said to be interested. Mourinho is looking for a winger who can supply plenty of chances for Romelu Lukaku and Dembele would be a perfect fit on the right flank. Whether United make an official move for Dembele is yet to be seen, but they are definitely interested in bringing him to Old Trafford.
