Everton's hopes of signing AC Milan man suffer a blow

Everton's hopes of signing AC Milan man suffer a blow It was reported on Thursday that Everton were closing in on the permanent signing of AC Milan midfielder Andrea Bertolacci. The 27-year-old was believed to be on the verge of a €6 million switch to the Premier League after enjoying a strong season on loan at Serie A outfit Genoa last term. Bertolacci’s tenure at Milan has not been a wholly successful one, with his progress and earlier promise halted and stymied by a succession of injury issues. It had appeared certain that Milan would offload the midfielder this summer, with Everton waiting with open arms. However, according to new reports from Italy, the Serie A giants could now aim to retain Bertolacci’s services for the upcoming season. It’s believed that after further observations and analysis in training sessions, Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has been impressed by Bertolacci and would be keen to keep hold of him for the foreseeable future. Everton are yet to make a single signing this summer, and it seems they have suffered a blow in their hopes of landing Bertolacci from Milan.

Everton linked with surprise move for Roma flop .
Everton will reportedly battle the likes of West Ham, Crystal Palace and Sampdoria for Roma striker Gregoire Defrel. According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, all three Premier League sides, as well as Sampdoria, are all keen with the player looking set to leave Rome. The Premier League trio are all looking to add to their attacks this summer as they go in search of added goals. The player is said to be interested in the idea of working under Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo, which is likely to boost their chances of sealing a deal for the player. Fellow Serie A side Genoa are also thought to be interested in the player. Defrel followed Eusebio Di Francesco from Sassuolo to Roma but he has been unable to step up, scoring just one league goal last season. Roma will be keen to recoup most of the funds they spent on the player, who joined in a €15 million deal after initially signing on loan.
