The Northern Echo reports that the Baggies forward is considered as a ‘Plan B’ this summer. Newcastle are currently pursuing a deal for Nice forward Alassane Plea, but they may be forced to turn their attention to Rondon if they’re unable to strike a deal. Plea impressed in Ligue 1 last season, but Newcastle will have to fight off interest from the Bundesliga and also Premier League rivals Tottenham and West Ham. Rondon has a £16.5 million release clause inserted into his current West Brom deal and he is widely expected to leave the club this summer. It is yet to be seen whether Newcastle would be willing to pay that much for the striker and could look to negotiate a cut-price deal. There are some concerns from the Premier League side about the player’s wage demands and the overall cost of a potential deal.

Aarons was largely frozen out by Rafa Benitez at St James’ Park last season and this saw him secure a January loan move away from the club. The 22-year-old arrived at Serie A club Hellas Verona for the second-half of the season and it seems he could be set for a summer move.

Stoke looking to have deal for Newcastle star finalised next week .
Stoke City are planning to step up their efforts to sign Newcastle United star Matt Ritchie and, according to the Northern Echo, the Potters want to have a deal finalised next week. Gary Rowett’s men have identified Ritchie as the ideal replacement for Xherdan Shaqiri, who has undergone a medical ahead of a proposed £13.75 million move to Liverpool. Ritchie has been linked with Stoke for some time now and it seems the club could be set to meet Newcastle’s asking price, with an improved offer planned. It’s believed that the Magpies are willing to sell the Scotland international but only on terms that suit them. Therefore, it seems they are demanding a fee worth £15 million for the wide midfielder. Newcastle will only sanction the sale of Ritchie, however, if they feel as though a deal to sign Andros Townsend back from Crystal Palace is feasible this summer, as per the report from the Northern Echo. Townsend has emerged as a target for the Magpies once again and if Ritchie is to leave for Stoke, it seems he would be the priority signing for Rafa Benitez.
