Everton weigh up move for Celtic star as Baines replacement

Everton weigh up move for Celtic star as Baines replacement Everton are reportedly weighing up a move for Kieran Tierney with a view to make the Scottish left-back Leighton Baines’ replacement, according to the Mirror. Tierney has impressed many in Scotland with his performances, with the defender helping Celtic to many successes north of the border. Celtic signed the youngster to a new deal back in October, but Everton are reportedly keen to test the Scottish Champion’s resolve with a bid for one of their prized assets. Leighton Baines has been a long-term Everton stalwart, signing for the Toffees in 2007 from Wigan. However, Baines has had problems with injuries and is not getting any younger, meaning Everton are now looking for fresh blood at left back. Tierney would fit this bill, although Everton could face some competition for the defender, with Manchester United and Spurs also interested in bringing Tierney to the Premier League. Everton views Tierney as a long-term successor to Baines, who is now 33 years old.

Everton have decided against making a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney, after learning of Celtic’s asking price.

Alasdair Lamont of the BBC today confirmed this latest breakthrough on Twitter.

This news will be music to the ears of Celtic fans who were desperate to hold on to their young prodigy.

The 21-year-old has been a supporter of the club for his whole life and joined Celtic at the age of just seven.

According to earlier reports, it had seemed a £25 million switch down south was becoming more and more likely but whilst no move was fully agreed, it all now seems dead in the water.

Tierney featured yesterday for Celtic in the 7-0 hammering of Shamrock Rovers and will be a crucial player when the Champions League Qualifiers kick off next week.

Barcelona star's agent denies that his player has signed for Everton .
Yerry Mina’s agent has denied reports that the Barcelona centre-back has signed for Everton, Football 365 reports. Mina, who had been a target for Liverpool this summer, had been attracting interest from many of Europe’s top clubs. The 23-year-old has found first team opportunities hard to come by at Barcelona and is looking for a move away from the Nou Camp this summer. “Recent reports suggested that Everton had had a bid accepted by Barcelona for Mina, however the player’s agent has spoken out to deny these rumours.” “It is not true that Yerry has signed for Everton.” “Yerry has many teams who hold an interest in him but before we can think about that, we need to know what Barcelona plan to do.” “When we hear from the club, we will make a decision.” Mina only signed for Barcelona from Palmeiras in January, making six appearances for the La Liga champions last campaign. Liverpool had been linked with a loan move for the youngster after a series of impressive displays at the World Cup with Columbia, with Manchester United also looking at the defender. However, new Everton boss Marco Silva is ready to make an ambitious bid for Mina as he looks to strengthen a squad that struggled last season.
