Liverpool make approach to agent of Jasper Cillessen

Liverpool make approach to agent of Jasper Cillessen Liverpool have made an approach to the agent of Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo, as translated by Sport Witness. The Reds are in the market for a new goalkeeper with Simon Mignolet almost certain to be leaving the club this summer and with the likes of Alisson and Jan Oblak seemingly too expensive for the Reds, Cillessen is apparently on their radar. The Dutch international has reportedly asked Barcelona to consider letting him leave this summer as he’s unhappy sitting behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who was in excellent form last season. Cillessen reportedly has a buyout clause of €60m in his contract with the La Liga champions but it’s likely to cost any interested clubs much less than that if they do want to sign the 29-year-old. Liverpool’s transfer activity has quietened during the World Cup but is expected to ramp up in the very near future.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has revealed that he encouraged the Reds to sign Jordan Pickford years before he was picked up by rivals Everton.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Kirkland recalls his time at Preston North End back in 2015.

Kirkland signed a one-year deal with the club and was at Deepdale while Pickford was there on loan.

“I was raving about him to the Liverpool staff, saying ‘this lad is the best I’ve worked with’. I told them he is going to be something special – but not many people take notice of me to be honest!”

“Unfortunately they didn’t get him and Everton have got, for me, a steal even at £30million.”

Danny Ings wants to leave Liverpool

Danny Ings wants to leave Liverpool Danny Ings has told Liverpool that he wants to leave the club this summer, according to Paul Joyce of The Times. Twitter: Danny Ings has decided to look for a move from Liverpool. Tough decision, but wants to play regularly. Lots of club… (@_pauljoyce) The Reds wanted to keep Ings at Anfield but have accepted his request to leave as he wants to play regular first-team football. The 25-year-old was reportedly offered a new contract by the Reds but has decided to look for a move as he sees his chances of getting regular action at Liverpool as slim at best. Ings signed for Liverpool back in 2015 but only played in 25 games in three seasons after suffering two serious knee injuries. The list of clubs hoping to sign Ings is likely to be a long one, with Sam Wallace of the Telegraph suggesting that RB Leipzig, Schalke, Bayer Leverkusen, Newcastle United, West Ham, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all shown interest in him in the past.

After catching the eye at Bradford, Sunderland sent the player to Preston to continue his development.

He would continue to impress and made his way into the Sunderland first-team, which is what prompted Everton to make their move for the player.

Pickford has found his name in the headlines after playing a key role in England’s dramatic penalty shootout against Colombia on Tuesday night.
