Celtic set to pay £10m to sign Odsonne Edouard

Celtic set to pay £10m to sign Odsonne Edouard There seem to be a lot of conflicting reports regarding the fee that Celtic must pay to sign striker Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal but, according to the print version of The Herald, the Scottish champions are set to pay £10m for the Frenchman, and a deal could be done in the very near future. The 20-year-old scored 11 goals in 29 appearances for Celtic during his loan spell from Paris Saint Germain and it seems like all parties involved; Celtic, PSG and the player himself, are keen for the loan to become a permanent move. It had been reported that it would cost around £7m for Celtic to keep Edouard, but The Herald report that the amount will be closer to the £10m range. As it stands, Celtic’s record in terms of the highest transfer fee they’ve paid out is £6m, an amount which they forked out twice, on John Hartson and Chris Sutton, respectively. Edouard, if the deal goes though as expected, will leapfrog the two former strikers and become the most expensive player in the history of Celtic Football Club.

Celtic deal for Odsonne Edouard imminent Celtic are optimistic that a deal for French striker Odsonne Edouard could be completed imminently, according to the Glasgow Evening Times. The 16th June is the deadline for Celtic to activate a clause in the striker’s loan deal, with talks ongoing this week which are believed to be going well. Celtic’s pursuit of the striker has been handed a boost, with UEFA telling PSG they will need to sell over £53 million’s worth of players or face sanctions after their big money deals for Kylian Mbappe and Neymar last Summer. Goncalo Guedes’ sale to PSG should cover almost half of the money required, however, the French side still need to make up the rest of the shortfall before the end of the month. Edouard is therefore close to a permanent deal with Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers repeatedly making no secret of his intentions to sign the Frenchman on a permanent deal.

Celtic would sell Boyata for £5m-£7m this summer .
Celtic would sell Lazio target Dedryck Boyata for a fee in the region of £5m-£7m, according to reports in Italy. Il Messaggero, as cited on Sport Witness, claim that Lazio remain keen on the player this summer. Previous reports have suggested that the Hoops would be willing to sell the player for slightly cheaper, but those have since been played down. Boyata is being linked with moves away from the Scottish champions as he enters the final months of his contract. There is still a hope among those behind the scenes at Celtic that the player will extend his deal at the club, according to the report. However, the Hoops may be forced into cashing in on the player this summer to avoid losing him for nothing next summer. Celtic stand to make good profit on the player who joined the club from Manchester City in a deal worth £1.8 million back in 2015.
