David Luiz reportedly keen for Laurent Blanc to join Chelsea

David Luiz reportedly keen for Laurent Blanc to join Chelsea According to a report from the Telegraph, Chelsea defender David Luiz is hopeful that the club opt to replace Antonio Conte with Laurent Blanc. The Blues are actively searching for a new manager ahead of next season, with the club’s hierarchy having grown frustrated by Conte’s shortcomings in recent times. Maurizio Sarri was targeted following his dismissal from Napoli but it appears as though this deal will be difficult to close. Therefore, Chelsea have identified former PSG chief Blanc as a ‘Plan B’, with a deal for the Frenchman seemingly the more feasible option. Luiz worked under Blanc during his time at PSG and if the Telegraph are to be believed, the Brazilian is more than open to the prospect of playing under him again. Conte’s frosty relationship with Luiz has been well documented over recent times and it seems the defender’s future at Chelsea is in doubt as long as the Italian is at the helm. However, with a manager such as Blanc in charge, it seems Luiz’s position at Chelsea could be rather more secure.

Arsenal have reportedly had a £17 million bid rejected by Chelsea for Brazilian defender David Luiz.

Reports in France from Le10 Sport claim that the Gunners are once again interested in signing the player.

Luiz has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer after falling out of favour under head coach Antonio Conte.

Arsenal were linked with the player during the January transfer, while Napoli have also been touted as a possible destination for the player this summer.

Unai Emery is reshaping the Arsenal defence this summer with the arrival of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis set to join from Dortmund.

Should Conte remain in charge at Stamford Bridge beyond the summer, then it is believed that the player will push for a move away from Chelsea.

Luiz lost his place in the Chelsea side to Andreas Christensen, despite playing a key role in the Blues’ title success under Conte.

The Brazilian made only nine Premier League starts for Chelsea last season, featuring just twice domestically during 2018.

Sarri's arrival could spark exits for Luiz, Morata and Drinkwater .
Maurizio Sarri’s impending arrival at Stamford Bridge could spark the end of three players’ time at Chelsea. According to the Mirror, Danny Drinkwater, Alvaro Morata and David Luiz could all be axed by the London outfit following Sarri’s arrival. The former Napoli boss is closing in on his appointment at Chelsea with talks still ongoing between the two clubs. The report also claims that Willian and Davide Zappacosta could be moved on this summer. The latter is already thought to be in talks over a move to Inter, while Willian has been a long-term target for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. David Luiz has been linked with a move to Napoli in the opposite direction, while Alvaro Morata is reportedly a target for the likes of Dortmund, Milan and Juventus following a season of struggles at Stamford Bridge. Drinkwater has failed to establish himself at Chelsea following his £30 million move from Leicester during the January transfer window. With hopes of a return to the England set-up, Drinkwater will want to be playing regular first-team football in the new season.
