Pepijn Lijnders re-joins Liverpool coaching staff Liverpool have announced that Pepijn Lijnders has re-joined the club’s coaching staff. Lijnders left the Reds to take up a managerial role at Dutch side NEC, but following his departure, he’s rejoined Jurgen Klopp’s first-team coaching staff in what Liverpool call a ‘senior capacity’. The Dutchman moved to Liverpool back in 2014 and during his time at Anfield, he assisted both Brendan Rodgers and Klopp. He left to take up his first managerial role in his homeland, but in a few weeks ago, he was sacked after NEC failed to gain promotion to the Eredivisie. With Zeljko Buvac looking like his career as a coach with Liverpool is over, the return of the highly-respected Lijnders will give the Reds a boost. The 35-year-old is well respected by everybody at Melwood and his return is likely to be met with great appreciation from the Liverpool players and staff.

Liverpool will be Tottenham Hotspur’s first opponents at their new stadium.

Spurs will use Wembley Stadium for their first home game of the season, against Fulham, and will also play three away games before they officially open their new facility against Liverpool on September 15th.

Liverpool will be hoping for a better result at the new stadium than they got at Wembley last season, when Spurs completely outplayed the Reds, defeating them 4-1.

Jurgen Klopp and his players will hope that Spurs have the same teething problems as other clubs have had when changing stadiums. Tottenham themselves first struggled when they first moved into Wembley on a temporary basis too.

It must be noted that Tottenham have four operational test events scheduled to take place at the new stadium between August 5th and September 2nd, but if all goes according to plan, they’ll be welcoming the Reds to the new White Hart Lane on September 15th.
