Bordeaux eye move for Sofiane Boufal

Bordeaux eye move for Sofiane Boufal Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are interested in bringing in Sofiane Boufal as a replacement for their star player, should Malcom leave the French Club, according to L’Equipe, as translated by Sport Witness. The young Brazilian has been sought after by a number of top tier clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, but Bordeaux refused to let him leave last Summer or in the January transfer window. Now, however, the attacking midfielder looks set for a move to Inter Milan. After a sluggish first season, it is understood that Boufal is open to a move back to France. Le10Sport reported that Marseille were recently offered the player. The Southampton midfielder has spent the majority of his career in France, initially breaking through at Angers before succeeding at Lille. Like many before him, the trip to the Premier League beckoned, but unfortunately for the player and the club, he has failed to justify his £16 million transfer fee. Despite making 59 appearances over two seasons, Boufal scored just four goals – though this included a goal of the season contender against West Brom. In any case, new manager Mark Hughes isn’t a fan of the attacking midfielder, and should he decide the Moroccan international isn’t in his plans for the upcoming season, a move back to France is more than likely.

Hit 10 goals for his former French club last season. The 21-year-old is quick but may have to wait for a sustained chance in the side. Tottenham’s outgoing head of recruitment, Paul Mitchell, is believed to have been a keen of admirer of Boufal before the club pursued alternate options.

Emmanuel Petit feels Boufal's struggles are down to his individualism

Emmanuel Petit feels Boufal's struggles are down to his individualism Former Arsenal and Chelsea star Emmanuel Petit has been discussing Sofiane Boufal’s shortcomings at Southampton. The Gunners legend sat down with the French media in recent times and spoke about a number of current issues, including Boufal’s predicament on the South Coast. Boufal wants to leave the club this summer, as he has confirmed himself, with a lack of progress having been made following his £16m move from Lille in 2016. The Moroccan international was excluded from his country’s 23-man squad for the World Cup recently after being exiled from Southampton’s first-team plans towards the end of the season. Concerns have been raised regarding Boufal’s attitude and it seems a summer move is on the cards, with his frosty relationship with new Saints boss Mark Hughes well-publicised. Petit has been giving his verdict on why Boufal has not lived up to expectations, reasoning the struggles with the player’s alleged individualism on the pitch. “Whenever he’s had playing time at Southampton, he was constantly forgetting his partners.” Petit also drew comparisons with PSG playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa, who was similarly accused of being greedy during his stint with Newcastle some years ago. “He reminds me a little of Hatem Ben Arfa – talented on the ball, able to make a difference but on the pitch, he plays to score and does not take notice of what is going on around him.

Arsenal keen on deal for Ligue 1 centre-back .
Arsenal are reportedly keen on a summer deal for Toulouse defender Issa Diop, but look set to miss out on his signature as West Ham close in on a transfer. The young Frenchman enjoyed yet another fine season in his homeland of France with Toulouse, attracting interest from a whole host of clubs across Europe. Calciomercato, who cite L’Equipe, claim that Arsenal are among the clubs who have expressed a desire to recruit Diop this summer. However, it appears as though the Gunners may have joined the race for Diop’s signature too late in the day, with Manuel Pellegrini’s new side close to completing a deal stated to be worth €25 million. Diop has long been dubbed as one of France’s brightest young talents and it seems after seasons worth of speculation, he is finally set to secure a move to the Premier League.
