Arsenal star signs contract extension

Arsenal star signs contract extension Granit Xhaka has signed a contract extension with Arsenal. Twitter: Granit’s got a message for you all… #GunnerGranit (@Arsenal) Arsenal have not given any details on the length of the extension at this time, but it’s clear that Xhaka is an important member of the squad as he featured in all of the club’s 38 Premier League games last season. Speaking to Arsenal’s official webiste about Xhaka’s extension, new Gunners boss Unai Emery said: “I’m delighted that Granit has extended his contract with us. He’s an important member of the squad and is still young so will be able to develop even more. I hope he has a successful World Cup with Switzerland and comes back fit and ready for the new season.”

Arsenal are set to go into a season without Arsene Wenger in charge for the first time in 22 years.

Unai Emery has taken over from the Frenchman and is closing in on a number of signings to reshape the squad.

The Spaniard is hoping to challenge for the Premier League title next season and needs a strong starting XI to do so.

With the players being linked to the club in mind, here is how we think Arsenal could line-up next season…

Arsenal continue to negotiate swoop for Uruguay international .
Arsenal are progressing in their negotiations to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria this summer, according to claims from Italian news outlet Di Marzio. The Gunners have a clear interest in signing Torreira this summer, with new boss Unai Emery keen to add more quality to his pool of midfielders ahead of next season. Torreira was a target for Napoli but it seems Arsenal are leading Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the race for his signature, with talks between the Gunners and Sampdoria ongoing. Entailed in his contract with the Serie A side is a €25 million release clause; a more than affordable outlay for a club with Arsenal’s financial power. Further reports from Italy also indicate that instead of paying the full extent of Torreira’s release clause up front, Arsenal would like to spread the cost through paying Sampdoria in installments. It seems there is a reciprocated desire to push this deal over the line, with a move to Arsenal evidently of interest to Torreira and his agent this summer.
