Multiple NHL teams are interested in signing former Kings defenseman Slava Voynov, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman .

Voynov can't apply for re-instatement to the NHL until he clears his criminal record and obtains a U.S. work visa. He has an expungement hearing scheduled for July 2, the day after NHL free agency begins, in California court to clear the no-contest plea from his record. If that request is granted, he will no longer have a criminal record (in official terms) and could then begin the process of applying for reinstatement into the NHL.

"I know his party is interested in understanding the parameters under which he'd be allowed to rejoin the league," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told reporters ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, saying it's too early for the league to address the matter of reinstatement. "There are a couple of legal hurdles that I understand still have to be passed. Until he gets past those, I don't think we're ready to comment on it."

Norwich ready to cash in on Liverpool target

Norwich ready to cash in on Liverpool target Norwich City are ready to cash in on Liverpool target James Maddison, with Leicester and Everton lining up moves. According to The Mirror, Norwich are now prepared to sell Maddison to fund their own transfers this summer. The report claims that Everton and Leicester are both looking to make an offer for Maddison over the next week. This is in an attempt to stave off interest from the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City. Leicester are thought to be the favourites, as Norwich look to take in around £25m from the sale of Maddison. Fulham are said to be showing an interest, although they are unlikely to match the financial strength of Leicester and Everton. Liverpool’s interest appears to have waned for the moment, though, having been pursuing a deal for Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir. However, the breakdown of that deal could spell a move for Norwich’s Maddison in the coming weeks.

The LA hockey club never pursued any further action to bring back their once-star defender, despite the rumors and despite holding his NHL rights. Regarding the report out of Russia: There is no evidence that the Rangers have any interest in acquiring Slava Voynov .

Even if Voynov gets reinstated, he wouldn't become a free agent right away. The Kings, who terminated Voynov's six-year contract in 2014, have retained his rights and would have the option to trade him to an interested team.

Voynov, 28, would also likely face disciplinary action from the league and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman before returning to the ice. Despite the public relations hellfire that would come attached to Voynov, NHL teams are reportedly interested in the talent he possesses.

Voynov scored 18 goals and registered 81 points in 190 career NHL games, winning two Stanley Cups with the Kings and a Gagarin Cup with the KHL side SKA St. Petersburg in 2017. He also helped the Olympic Athletes from Russia win Olympic gold in Pyeongchang.
