Scottish side join race to sign Newcastle target

Scottish side join race to sign Newcastle target Celtic have joined the race to sign Stoke City midfielder, and Newcastle target, Joe Allen this summer, according to Graeme Bailey of the Gambling Times. The report claims that Celtic are ahead of a number of Premier League clubs in their pursuit of Allen, as they aim to secure a deal for the Welshman. Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has a good relationship with Allen, who he worked with at Swansea and Liverpool earlier in his career. Bailey claims that Allen is keen to link up with Rodgers again and would be open to the idea of a move to Scotland. West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester, Wolves and Everton are the five Premier League clubs thought to also be eyeing up a move for Allen. Stoke look set to cash in on the Welsh international after they were relegated to the Championship last season. Gary Rowett will want funds to launch a promotion campaign, and Allen is one of Stoke’s most valuable players.

Stoke are interested in taking Liverpool striker Danny Ings on loan but are likely to face competition from Newcastle , West Ham and West Brom, Sky Sports News has been told. It is understood Liverpool have yet to decide whether they will allow the 25-year-old forward to go out on loan in January.

Stoke City FC. Swansea City AFC. Manchester United and Tottenham are both keeping a close eye on Newcastle United’s Spanish forward Ayoze Perez according to the Chronicle.

New Stoke City manager Gary Rowett is lining up a move for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship, according to the Mirror.

Rowett is identifying his transfer targets as he looks to take the Potters back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Gayle performed well in the Championship a couple of seasons ago, scoring 23 goals back in the 2016/17 season as Newcastle achieved promotion to the top-flight.

The Newcastle man would be a strong addition to a Stoke squad which will be confident of rising above lesser competition and rejoin the big boys of English football.

Newcastle remain keen on Sporting CP star

Newcastle remain keen on Sporting CP star Newcastle remain keen on a move for Sporting CP striker Bas Dost, with the forward apparently growing keen to exit the Portuguese club. Dost was one of several players to be attacked at the club’s training ground by a set of fans after they finished third in the league and reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League. The 29-year-old required stitches afterwards, as he sustained some nasty head wounds. According to a report from Dutch news outlet AD, a transfer could be on the cards for the Netherlands international, with Newcastle supposedly joined by Sevilla and Everton in the race for his signature. Dost scored 33 goals in 45 appearances for Sporting last season and is apparently rated highly by Magpies boss Rafa Benitez. It was reported that Newcastle offered around £40m for the striker’s services last summer, but the bid was rejected. These reports were somewhat speculative, however, with the Benitez having been allocated limited finances since his arrival at St James’ Park. But now, with the Lisbon giants in turmoil, a bid of that kind would surely be too good to turn down.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis says he would still love to sign former England striker Michael Owen, but insists any deal has to be right. The stumbling block on any potential deal for Owen could be the former Liverpool and Newcastle forward 's wage demands.

Newcastle have completed the signing of forward Joselu from Stoke City for a fee of £5m. "He knows and accepts the challenge we've given him at Newcastle United and he's keen to come and fight for a position in the team."

The new Stoke manager is keen to sign players who have performed well in the division in the past and feels that Gayle would be the perfect target.

The ex-Derby boss is also keen to sign his former player Curtis Davies, who was a consistent defensive presence in the Rams’ back-line.

Crystal Palace eye swoop for Giannelli Imbula .
Crystal Palace have reportedly been in contact with Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula’s representatives ahead of a potential move this summer. The former Porto midfielder spent the duration of last season on loan at Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse after struggling to make an impression under Mark Hughes at Stoke. Imbula is all but set to leave the Potters this summer after returning from his loan spell in his homeland of France, but a stay in England could yet be on the cards. According to claims from RMC Sport, as cited in a report from GFFN, Palace have contacted Imbula’s entourage to gauge their chances of landing the towering midfielder this summer. Imbula, who joined Stoke from Porto for a fee believed to be in the region of £18m, is said to be keen on staying in France for the foreseeable future, but a move back to the Premier League could be of interest. However, Palace face competition in their apparent pursuit of the player. It’s believed by RMC that Newcastle United, Torino and Galatasaray are also keen to recruit Imbula this summer.
