Dominic Solanke is "happy" Steven Gerrard has got the Rangers manager's job and is "intrigued" to see how well the Liverpool legend will do in the role.

Reports have suggested Liverpool will look to send Solanke out on loan next season to gain some vital first-team experience and he has been linked with a move to Rangers, where Gerrard was appointed manager in May.

The 20-year-old moved to Anfield from Premier League rivals Chelsea last summer after struggling to establish himself at Stamford Bridge, but he has yet to become a regular under Jurgen Klopp on Merseyside.

Steven Gerrard is being linked with a move to Glasgow Rangers , so could he bring one of Liverpool' s brightest prospects to Ibrox ? Solanke has played a peripheral role for the first-team this term, so it would certainly seem unlikely that a deal could be done.

"Gerrard's a legend," Solanke, who could be joined at Ibrox by Liverpool team-mate Ovie Ejaria, is quoted by the Daily Record. "He has done so much for Liverpool and for football.

“I’m happy he has got the Rangers job and it will be good for him. I’m intrigued to see how he’s going to do."

Given the remarkable performances of Liverpool's front three of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, who have scored 57 league goals between them this season, first-team chances have been hard to come by for Solanke.

The England international has made 27 appearances in all competitions this season, of which just six were starts and his only goal came in Liverpool's final league game against Brighton.

Despite appearances being few and far between, the striker insists he has still enjoyed his first season at Liverpool as he has been able to watch and learn from one of the most feared strike-forces in world football.

He added: “Everyone knows how much of a big club Liverpool is. I’ve enjoyed my first season.

“It’s gone in quickly and we have such a good bunch of boys. The front three are phenomenal with the stats they have got this season.

“We are so lucky to have them and for me to watch them every week and learn from them definitely helps my game.”
