Charly Musonda returns to Chelsea for treatment

Charly Musonda returns to Chelsea for treatment Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Charly Musonda is likely to miss the remainder of the campaign, as he returned to his parent club Chelsea for treatment on an injured shoulder. Musonda was left out of the matchday squad for the 3-1 win at Hearts and was also absent in the title-clinching win over Rangers last weekend. Overall, the exciting youngster has made just eight appearances, with three of them from the start since joining Celtic on an 18-month loan in January. Rodgers has said that the club will discuss the future of the winger with Chelsea over the summer, as per a report in The Evening Times. “He has gone back to Chelsea. He injured his shoulder while the squad were away so we sent him back to get treatment. It’s similar to what happened with Patrick Roberts at Man City. He’s their player so they have to assess him. I doubt he will return this season but we’ll have a chat with Chelsea and Charly in the summer.” “It works both ways. The player comes to get some game time and I will never bring a young player if I can’t give him game time. If he doesn’t then I’m always conscious that if it’s not going to be for him then we’ll look at it.” “He’s been unfortunate the team has been playing so well. He’s had some time but we’ll speak about it in the summer and go from there.” The words of the manager hardly make for promising reading for the fans of Musonda and it seems that the 21-year-old hasn’t made a great impression so far.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted Chelsea could cut short Charly Musonda ’s loan spell at Celtic . The Belgian has been restricted to three starts and five substitute outings since joining in January on an 18-month deal.

Chelsea could recall Charly Musonda from his loan spell with Celtic this summer after the Belgian’s inability to break into the Hoops’ side. As reported by the Daily Record, the Scottish champions could cut the Belgian’s loan deal short after the winger has failed to break into the Celtic squad.

According to Goal, Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda will be recalled from Scottish champions, Celtic.

The 21-year-old originally signed a deal to stay at Celtic for 18 months but has had the deal shortened due to the lack of playing time that Musonda has had at the club.

The young Belgian only started three games since joining on loan back in January.

Musonda was not in Celtics last matchday squad due to a shoulder injury according to boss Brendan Rodgers:

“Charly hurt his shoulder in the week when he was away. He has gone back to Chelsea to get treatment on that. So like I say, he may or may not feature between now and the end of the season.”

“But he is obviously a Chelsea player, so they want to look at him to make sure he is okay.”

Musonda put a heartfelt post on his Instagram account thanking Celtic for the opportunity of playing for the club.

He also made his Stamford Bridge debut and scored his first goal for the club this season.

Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko heading back to Denmark .
Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko is close to agreeing a move to Danish team Midtjylland. The centre-back spent the second half of last season on loan at his former club and it is being reported over in Denmark that he is close to agreeing a deal with Midtjylland until 2022. Sviatchenko signed for Celtic in January 2016 and made a very good start to his career in Scotland. He has made 63 appearances for Celtic but struggled to get back in the squad after returning from injury in November. In the 2017/18 campaign the 26-year-old has made just two appearances, which both came in the Champions League and the player now looks surplus to requirements for Brendan Rodgers’s side. On his loan spell back in the Danish Superliga he won the title with Midtjylland, missing just one game in his time back at his old club. After another treble winning season for Celtic Rodger’s will be hoping his side can continue to dominate Scottish football even with the arrival of his old player at Liverpool, Steven Gerrard, who is now in charge of Rangers.
