Manchester United open to letting Anthony Martial join Chelsea

Manchester United open to letting Anthony Martial join Chelsea Manchester United winger Anthony Martial may only come to Stamford Bridge as part of a swap deal, according to the Independent. United boss Jose Mourinho would be happy for the Frenchman to leave for West London but he wants Brazilian winger Willian in return. Chelsea have been heavily linked with a bid for the 22-year-old, who has found himself out of favour at Old Trafford under the Portuguese. Mourinho and Martial have never been on the same page, however, the former Chelsea boss is a big admirer of Willian and has been ever since he signed the winger back in 2013. The deal would not be a straight swap, however, with a seven-year age gap between the two players, Chelsea would have to offer a player plus cash deal. With Blues owner Roman Abramovich looking to freshen up an ageing squad, this could be a deal that very much interests him.

Chelsea midfielder Willian’s agent has reportedly held informal talks with Manchester United in the last month.

The Manchester Evening News report that Willian’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, met with United officials to discuss the possibility of a move during this summer’s transfer window.

United manager Jose Mourinho is known to be a huge fan of the player having signed him for Chelsea in 2013 and he’s since attempting to re-sign him on two occasions, including an enquiry about his availability last summer.

Willian fits the description of the calibre of player Mourinho has targetted in recent years, as he has looked to acquire players accustomed to the Premier League such as Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku.

The impressive Brazil international has been a consistent performer for Chelsea over the years and has proven himself to be one of the best wingers in the division. Chelsea will be hoping they can keep hold of Willian, as well as adding to their own squad. Although, it remains to be seen whether Antonio Conte will still be at the club come the start of next season.

In addition, the 55-year-old raved about the ability of Brazilian players last month, saying:

“I think that a team without a Brazilian isn’t a team. But also, a squad with three or four Brazilian athletes, depending on their profile, cannot make a great team too. I’m kidding! I think their talent is fantastic and the creativity of the Brazilian player cannot be measured. If a European team, like, very European, could have a Brazilian in their squad, it would bring a ‘Brazilian thing’ to the game and I think that’s very important.”

The Red Devils have also been linked with moves for Brazilian duo Alex Sandro and Fred.

Willian has been one of Chelsea’s stand out players in a disappointing campaign, scoring six times and providing seven assists in 36 Premier League appearances.

The 29-year-old is contracted to Stamford Bridge until 2020, but his age and length of contract could persuade the Blues to sell.

United reportedly in talks with Fabinho's representatives .
Manchester United are in talks with Monaco star Fabinho’s representatives, according to French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi. Twitter: Manchester United est toujours dans le dossier Fabinho. Discussions avec l’entourage mais toujours pas d’offre conc… https://t.co/MWiq1vwfy3 (@mohamedbouhafsi) The Brazilian is another player who has attracted plenty of interest in the past from Europe’s elite and has flourished during his time in Ligue 1. The 24-year-old began his career at Fluminense in his homeland but failed to make an appearance in the first team. He then joined Rio Ave, in the Primeira Liga, but after a month went on loan to Real Madrid Castilla, where he made 30 appearances. His impressive spell at Castilla saw him earn a loan move back to Madrid, but this time for Real Madrid’s first team, rather than their second. However, Fabinho only made one appearance, a 14-minute cameo against Malaga. The season after, he joined Monaco on loan, and this is where he has seen his career take off. After a two-year loan spell at Stade Louis II, he made the move permanent and has made over 100 appearances for the French giants. The defensive midfielder has been a huge part of Monaco’s triumphs recently, including playing a key role in knocking Manchester City out of the 2016/17 Champions League. A move for Fabinho could see United try to sign two Brazilian midfielders this summer, with earlier reports suggesting the Red Devils were in advanced talks to sign Fred, from Shakhtar Donetsk.
