Hernandez , currently at Championship side Hull City, has been linked with a move to Celtic in recent weeks as Brendan Rodgers looks to add to his squad.

Leeds United have joined Celtic in the race to sign Hull City striker Abel Hernandez, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The striker is set to leave Hull after a four year spell at the club and the Elland Road outfit are hoping to get the player on a free transfer.

Hernandez’s current deal comes to a close at the end of next month and despite the club offering him a really good deal to keep him, he looks like he’ll be moving on.

Hull brought the player for £10 million back in 2014 and are reluctant to lose the player on a free after the price they had paid previousl but his refusal to put pen to paper on a new deal means they’re powerless to prevent him from leaving.

Celtic are reportedly interested in Hull City striker Abel Hernandez , but would he be perfect at Leeds ? Many have blamed the appointment of Victor Orta as director of football at Leeds United this season, while others have bemoaned Andrea Radrizzani's efforts of keeping Garry Monk.

Abel Hernandez ’s contract with Hull City is set to expire this summer and it is understood that he is set to leave the club after that. However, considering Celtic ’s domestic superiority as well as the scope of plying his trade in the Champions League might appeal to Hernandez .

Leeds have identified the player as their main summer transfer target and are keen to move ahead of Celtic and get the deal over the line.

The player only featured 10 times last season after being out injured for much of the campaign with a ruptured Achilles tendon, but he still netted 8 goals in those 10 games.
