VIDEO REVIEW | Crystal Palace 3-2 Brighton

VIDEO REVIEW | Crystal Palace 3-2 Brighton In this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast, I review the game against AFC Brighton by giving you my match review, player rankings as well as my Man of the Match. Palace moved six points clear of the bottom three, with just four games to play. All the goals were scored in an incredible first 45 minutes. Wilfried Zaha grabbed the early lead for Palace, which was closely followed up by James Tomkins doubling the lead. Glenn Murray pulled one back for the Seagulls, but Zaha once again scored to get Palace back in control. Jose Izquierdo scored the final goal just before half-time, before a nervy second-half saw the Eagles cling onto their 3-2 lead to register a crucial victory. Why was Wan-Bissaka dropped for Ward? How good were Wilf’s goals? How good was Luka’s assists? All this and more in this week’s e-Crystal Palace Podcast. Christian Benteke set to be fit for Brighton clash

Christian Benteke set to be fit for Brighton clash Crystal Palace expect Christian Benteke to be fit for the massive home game with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon, according to the Standard. However, there is no guarantee that Roy Hodgson will put the Belgian striker straight back into the first team as his form in front of goal was not good prior to him picking up a groin injury. With no recognised strikers available to him, Hodgson chose to use Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend as a forward duo in Palace’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth and there’s every chance he could stick with that against the Seagulls. Palace are desperate for three points as they look to avoid relegation. They’re currently just three points, and one place, above the drop zone, but they could find in 18th place by kick-off in the Brighton game if Southampton can get three points against a dispirited Chelsea side. Whether he starts the game or is on the bench, having Benteke fit is a boost to Palace as they move into the business end of the season.

Hodgson interested in permanent Loftus-Cheek move .
Roy Hodgson would like the opportunity to discuss the idea of Ruben Loftus-Cheek joining Crystal Palace permanently this summer. According to a report by the Croydon Advertiser, Hodgson has urged the midfielder to at least consider the idea of leaving Chelsea. “For Ruben Loftus-Cheek to consider us seriously as an option, we need to be in the league for the kick off. Let’s keep our priorities right and work hard to stay in this league. Then I’m pretty sure we would be saying to Ruben, is it worth having the conversation with Chelsea, could you consider? Then of course the conversation with Chelsea will come around and we will see from there.” The England international has impressed for Palace in recent weeks, sparking discussion about his future. Loftus-Cheek has been one of the Eagles’ most impressive performers all season but he has seen his campaign derailed through injuries. Since joining the club he has been able to play regularly in the Premier League and as a result, earn his first call-up to the England side. Gareth Southgate is said to be a huge admirer of the player and he could be named in the England squad for this summer’s World Cup squad in Russia. With a new manager likely to be coming in at Stamford Bridge this summer, there could be yet more change at Chelsea that could play a part in Loftus-Cheek deciding his next move.
