Everton youngster in line for England senior call-up

Everton youngster in line for England senior call-up Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be set to receive another call-up to the England national team ahead of the upcoming friendlies this month. According to a report from the Daily Star, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate is considering handing Calvert-Lewin only his second ever call-up to the senior side as he weighs up his options ahead of this summer’s World Cup. As a result of an injury crisis in the England squad back in November, young Toffees forward Calvert-Lewin was drafted in to train with the first-team. Although he didn’t play against Brazil, it seems he may have done enough in training to convince Southgate of his qualities. The former Sheffield United youngster has hardly been in prolific form this term but has still been a bright spark in what has been a disappointing campaign for Everton. England travel to the Netherlands for a friendly against ex-Everton boss Ronald Koeman and his side, before they welcome Italy to Wembley just days later this month.

Everton are reportedly keeping a close eye on FC Ural midfielder Petrus Boumal ahead of a potential summer move.

The midfielder has been in good form this season and has attracted plenty of plaudits for his consistent displays in the Russian Premier League. It seems Boumal’s form has not gone unnoticed by Everton, too, with French news outlet Foot Mercato citing them with interest.

Boumal only joined Ural in recent times after a strong spell in France with FC Sochaux. However, he has gone from strength to strength in Russia and could be on the move again this summer if reports are to be believed.

Foot Mercato claim that Boumal may be lined up as a potential replacement for Idrissa Gueye should the midfielder opt to leave Everton at the end of the campaign. Although, this looks unlikely, with the Toffees regarding Gueye as one of their most important players.

Boumal is the subject of interest from Belgian outfit Genk, but it seems they will need to offer more than the apparent €2m offer they did during the January transfer window.

Tosun reveals inspiration behind chosing to wear No. 14 .
Cenk Tosun has revealed the thought behind his choice to wear No. 14 for Everton this season, saying his inspiration came from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Tosun previously wore the No. 23 jersey with Beşiktaş which Turkish Football claim was in honour of former Chicago Bulls superstar and NBA legend Michael Jordan. However, Séamus Coleman currently dons that number for Everton, and has done since he returned from a loan spell with Blackpool in 2010. The Turkey international striker knew not to ask the Republic of Ireland captain to give up his number, electing to follow a Premier League legend and choose No. 14 instead. Talking to Turkish Sozcu (via Turkish Football), Tosun said; “Seamus Coleman has been number 23 for eight years so I knew to forget about that.” “I really like Seamus, I didn’t even ask, it wouldn’t have been cool.” “I turned my attention to number 14, it has been worn by some of the greats like Thierry Henry so that is the rationale behind my thinking.” Tosun has scored four goals in his last three games, as he looks to finally be beginning to settle into the Toffees’ set-up.
