Newcastle to watch winger in crunch Super Lig clash

Newcastle to watch winger in crunch Super Lig clash Newcastle will continue to keep tabs on Garry Rodrigues as he gears up to feature for Galatasaray in their Super Lig clash with Fenerbahce at the weekend. According to a report from Aksam, a Turkish news outlet, the Magpies will send out a representative to monitor Rodrigues as they continue to contemplate a summer move for the winger. Rodrigues has been in impressive form for Galatasaray this season and has attracted the interest of several clubs across Europe. Newcastle made a move for him in January, according to reports, but saw their efforts rebuffed as Galatasaray looked to retain the services of their key man. However, this has not deterred Newcastle and they remain keen to land the Cape Verde international. What may deter the Magpies, though, is Galatasaray’s valuation of the player. The club’s president Mustafa Cengiz revealed that only an offer worth in the region of €30m would convince him to sell Rodrigues.

There has been plenty of talk about an alleged lack of ambition on Newcastle United’s part in the transfer market so links with arguably Europe’s most exciting goalkeeping prospect should raise plenty of eyebrows on Tyneside. Lafont became the youngest shot- stopper ever to appear in Ligue 1 when

Newcastle United are reportedly planning an audacious swoop for Toulouse goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

According to a report from French news outlet L’Equipe, the Magpies are one of several clubs to have expressed an interest in signing the youngster, who has emerged as one of the brightest talents in Ligue 1.

Lafont burst into the first-team picture at the tender age of 16 and has since been a mainstay in the Toulouse side. He has been in impressive form this season and his stock is only continuing to rise.

Newcastle have long been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper who can retain a starting berth for years to come but have struggled to recruit a reliable shot stopper in recent times. Although, loanee goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is certainly showing signs of promise since his January move.

19-year-old Lafont is a highly coveted young player, who is being chased by top clubs around Europe, such as Napoli.

Newcastle want to sell Sels to an English club in the summer .
Newcastle United are looking to sell goalkeeper Matz Sels in the summer, and would prefer to sell to an English club, according to Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure. The Magpies paid £5million to sign the highly rated ‘keeper from Gent in 2016, but he failed to establish himself in the Championship, failing to take the Number 1 spot from Karl Darlow or supplant Rob Elliot as back-up. In a handful of appearances, Sels made mistakes and failed to deal with the physicality needed to play in England, and so was loaned out to Anderlecht last summer. Having played for the Belgian champions regularly this season, La DH claim that while Anderlecht are keen to keep the goalkeeper, Newcastle would rather sell him to an English club. Due to the money in English football, Newcastle are more likely to recoup a large chunk of the money they paid for Sels almost two years ago if they sell him to another side in England, although it may take some convincing. Sels has been less than impressive in England and would hardly be a top target for anyone who bore witness to his performances with the Magpies last season. Anderlecht may not be able to sign Sels permanently, but another loan move could work for all parties if Newcastle can’t find a buyer this summer.
