Liverpool use Coutinho negotiations to enquire over Suarez .
Liverpool have reportedly used their negotiations with Barcelona over Philippe Coutinho to enquire about Luis Suárez’ availability, according to sources in Spain. The Reds’ are becoming increasingly resigned to losing their star Brazilian, with Barça closing in on £142million deal. However, Spanish outlet Don Balón, as cited in the Express, claim that the club already know how to reinvest that money – in their former star striker Luis Suárez. The Uruguay international left Merseyside for Catalonia back in 2014, while current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was in charge, in a deal worth around £75million. Since then, the controversial forward has gone on to cement himself as one of the best attackers in World football. The 30-year old has struggled to find consistent form this season however, managing just ten goals from 22 games, which is relatively low from his standard. Despite this though, Liverpool are supposedly keen on bringing him back to Anfield, where he is still held in high regard. Currently, Liverpool rely heavily on the attacking trio of Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. With Coutinho seemingly off, Divock Origi out on loan, Dominic Solanke inexperienced and Daniel Sturridge consistently injured, they may look to add up front. Don Balón also claim that the Reds’ cause could well be helped too, given the Catalan club’s interest in Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, who is likely to move to Barcelona at the end of the season, despite interest from Manchester United. The principal issue would be in convincing Luis Suárez himself, who has claimed that he is happy playing alongside Lionel Messi. Suárez previously said that he would like to retire with the club.
