Now that Aston Villa have been knocked out of the FA Cup, they can focus all their attention on earning promotion back to the Premier League at the second time of asking.

Bruce made 10 changes to the team that was eventually knocked out of the FA Cup by an impressive Peterborough side at the weekend, and he will make a lot of changes again for Saturday’s trip to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.

Forest, who will be under new manager Aitor Karanka for the first time, have struggled in the league this season (they sit just eight points above the relegation zone), but they will be on a high after having knocked out Arsenal from the FA Cup on Sunday evening.

Here’s our predicted Villa XI for Saturday’s evening kick off against Nottingham Forest:

Villa player ratings: Nottingham Forest (A) .
Aston Villa kept the heat on their promotion rivals thanks to a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday evening. The away side put in an impressive display and were unlucky not to win by a bigger margin. John Terry hit the bar with a thumping header, Jack Grealish curled a fine shot just wide of the post, and Robert Snodgrass forced an impressive save out of Forest’s goalkeeper. The winner was scored by Scott Hogan in the 18th minute when he stooped to nod in a fine cross from Snodgrass. This was an important three points for Villa as Cardiff and Derby had won their games in the afternoon. This means that they are still just five points below Derby in second. However, they now find themselves four points above Leeds in seventh place as they lost to Ipswich.
