Shelvey considered a top target for West Ham in January

Shelvey considered a top target for West Ham in January David Moyes is lining up a shock move for Newcastle’s mercurial midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to a Mirror exclusive. Moyes is believed to be desperate to strengthen his midfield in the January transfer window as he looks to boost the Hammers’ chances of survival this season. With the long-term future of Mark Noble in mind, Jonjo Shelvey is one key name that features highly on Moyes’ list. Since signing for the Magpies in 2016 from Swansea, Shelvey has shown that he has untapped potential, but he has yet to hit full stride for Rafa Benitez’ side. The former Liverpool and Swansea midfielder has already been sent off twice this season, and is now seen by a large section of the North East club’s fan base as a liability, due to his persistent temperament issues. When not suspended, Shelvey has struggled to maintain a regular place in Newcastle’s starting line-up, and with Amanda Staveley’s takeover still not having gone through for the club just yet, the Magpies could be tempted to sell Shelvey in order to raise funds for transfers. Newcastle would presumably want to make back much of the £12million that they paid for him if he is to leave Tyneside in January.

Newcastle United. Southampton. Hart is on loan at Torino, a deal that doesn’t expire until the end of the season. Cross also says that ‘ Hart has made it clear that he is enjoying his Italian Job but a move by a big English club would give him a major dilemma’, which sounds about right.

Newcastle are interesting in completing a surprise deal for Joe Hart this month, according to the Mirror.

Rafa Benitez was interested in signing the England international last summer before he moved to West Ham on a season-long loan.

Now that Hart has lost his place to Adrian for the Hammers, the Magpies are making enquiries with Manchester City to take him off their hands.

It would take both West Ham and the Citizens to agree to end Hart’s current loan deal.

West Ham may be keen to shift the 30-year old, who is a considerable drain of the London club’s wage budget. They may look to terminate his loan to free up space for January incomings.

City will also be looking to get Hart as much game time as possible, ahead of potentially selling him on in the summer, and Hart himself will be desperate for minutes ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Newcastle are in the middle of a takeover from businesswoman Amanda Staveley, and are likely to have some funds to play with.

West Ham are also interested in Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, which could possible play into the deal going ahead.
