Brighton vs Crystal Palace: Match Preview

Brighton vs Crystal Palace: Match Preview Wilfried Zaha will be relishing the chance to haunt Brighton once again when Crystal Palace face an away trip down the M23 to face their bitter rivals Brighton on Tuesday. Brighton sit 11 places above the Eagles at the moment, but that won’t matter one bit in a game that is sure to be a feisty encounter. Crystal Palace have massively improved under the reign of Roy Hodgson and he will be looking to deliver an early Christmas present to the Palace fans with a win over the Sussex outfit. Wilfried Zaha has been phenomenal for Palace in recent games and it will be no surprise if he continues his red-hot form in the derby. It has been even between the two sides when they have met at the AMEX Stadium. Crystal Palace gained a very special win back in May 2013 with Zaha securing a brace in the Championship play-off semi-final 2nd leg. This was after Brighton had comfortably beaten the Eagles 3-0 a few months previous in March. Both sides had contrasting results on Saturday, with Crystal Palace scoring a last-gasp winner against Stoke City to win 2-1, securing only their second win of the season. Palace came from behind to beat the Potters after Xherdan Shaqiri scored the opener. Brighton lost narrowly to Manchester United 1-0 with Ashley Young grabbing the winner in the 66th minute when his effort on goal took a huge deflection off Lewis Dunk. Team News Yohan Cabaye will be a doubt after picking up a knee injury against Stoke City on Saturday.

Brighton & Hove Albion have made Celtic’s Moussa Dembélé a key January target as they look to secure a striker who can help to guarantee them a further season Everton passed up the opportunity to bid for Dembélé in the summer, following the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.

Brighton are being robbed should wait and get him cheaper in Boxing Day sale. He’s not their best player at all. Clearly haven’t watched Celtic or Dembele at all this season have you.

Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly seen Celtic’s Moussa Dembele as their number one transfer target in January, as per the Daily Mail.

Brighton are in need of more goals, scoring just 14 so far this campaign, with no side above the Seagulls scoring fewer than that.

Chris Hughton was said to have been after Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen in the summer to lead the front line. However, he has gone on loan from Spurs to Fenerbahce for the season.

Strikers for Brighton include Glenn Murray, who is Albion’s top scorer with five and Tomer Hemed, who is struggling for minutes under his belt in the English top flight.

Team news: Motherwell vs Celtic

Team news: Motherwell vs Celtic Celtic are on the road once again as they travel to Fir Park on Wednesday night to face Motherwell just three days after their League Cup triumph. The Hoops beat Stephen Robinson’s men 2-0 at the weekend as Brendan Rodgers lifted his fourth consecutive domestic trophy at the club. Motherwell will also travel to Glasgow on Saturday to face the top of the table side, in an unprecedented triple-header in just six days. They currently sit fifth in the league table, and will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment at the weekend with a strong performance at home. Celtic Moussa Dembele will miss the game through injury, and could miss next week’s crucial Champions League clash with Anderlecht. Nir Bitton will also miss Wednesday’s trip after picking up a knock in last week’s loss to PSG having also missed the win on Sunday. Motherwell The Steelmen have no fresh injuries going into the game. Cedric Kipre was red carded at the weekend in the League Cup final but will be free to face the league champions as his ban will carry over into next season.

Brighton broke their transfer record to capture Jose Izquierdo from Club Brugge in the summer for £13.5m, but the Dembele deal would see them break that record again.

Hughton is reportedly going to offer Brendan Rodgers £20m for the young Frenchman, but Celtic value him at £30m, so the fee is yet to be agreed.

Dembele this season, although hit by injury, has still been providing the Hoops with goals, netting two braces in four days at Pittodrie and Easter Road.

He also scored in the recent League Cup Final win over Motherwell and the early opener in Paris, so Brighton would certainly be getting a goalscorer.

However, whether Dembele goes in January or not is another matter. The 21-year-old has his whole career ahead of him, but it is to be seen if the wanted man will remain in Glasgow.
