The draw for the Last 16 of the Champions League takes place on Monday and Liverpool fans are already looking forward to finding out their next European opponents.

At this stage of the competition, sides who won their group will face a runner-up from another group and vice versa. It’s important to note that teams can not be drawn against a side from their own country, nor can they be drawn against a side who they faced in the group stages.

What that means is that, unlike day the FA Cup draw where the chances of drawing any team are equal, the probability of facing certain clubs in the draw is actually weighted.

So, we know that Liverpool will face either Basel, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Porto, Real Madrid or Shakhtar Donetsk but what is the probability of being drawn against each club?

Chelsea in for tough Champions League draw regardless says Conte

Chelsea in for tough Champions League draw regardless says Conte Chelsea will be in for a tough Champions League draw regardless of whether or not they top their group, according to head coach Antonio Conte. As reported by the London Evening Standard, Conte told the club’s official website that he knows what is in store for his side, as the Blues prepare for their final game of the group stage against Atletico Madrid. Roma face Qarabag in their final game of the group stage and a win there would take the Italians above Chelsea by a single point as things stand. Due to other results in the remaining groups, Chelsea could come up against the likes of Real Madrid, or Conte’s former side Juventus, even if they do win their group, with both sides facing the prospect of finishing second in their respective groups. Historically finishing top of your group allows for a slightly easier match in the next round as you can only draw against teams who finish second, but Conte knows that is not the case this season. “If you arrive first, you could then get teams like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Juventus. It doesn’t change a lot if you arrive first or second. The most important thing is to reach the next stage, but for our mission and our confidence, it would be right to win and arrive first.

Arsenal' s most likely opponents are German giants Bayern Munich. The least likely draws, apart from those which are impossible due to UEFA rules, are : Real Madrid vs Juventus or Shakhtar Donetsk: Barcelona vs Juventus , Shakhtar or Basle; Atletico Madrid vs Shakhtar or Basle; and Porto
