The Oilers have scored 38 goals this season — which is last in the NHL in goals scored as does the team's goals per game. With the trade, the Oilers gain the offensive help that they looked for when they initially signed Jokinen during free agency, but at a inexpensive price-tag.

Cammalleri is set to earn a base-salary of $1 million this season. While Jokinen was given $100,000 more in his one-year deal, the Oilers were set to part ways with the 34-year-old. He has totaled a mere point in 14 games this season, by way of an assist, and has struggled to contribute while on the Oilers' fourth line.

Both players are set to become unrestricted free agents following the season.
