Manchester United appear to be ready to step up their pursuit of Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.

Last month, reports emerged claiming that Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the Spaniard’s talents, and was pondering a move for him in the mid-season transfer window.

Now, according to the Independent, Soler has moved up to the top of Mourinho’s shortlist ahead of January, with the United boss keen to secure the Valencia man’s services.

Soler has been in good form for a resurgent Valencia side this season. He has played a part in their rejuvenation under Marcelino and is catching the eye of several clubs across the continent.

United look set to lose a midfielder in January, with Marouane Fellaini claimed to be closing in on an £8 million move to Turkish side Besiktas.

It looks as though Mourinho and his recruitment team have decided that Soler is the best possible alternative to Fellaini, if the Independent are to be believed.

Milan considering move for Ogbonna .
AC Milan are considering a move for West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna in the January transfer window. According to Corriere Dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Milan are set to place Ogbonna at the top of their winter wishlist. The report claims that Milan are looking to strengthen their defence and are eyeing up a move for Ogbonna to solve their defensive issues. Milan were not expecting to do much business in the January window but their form so far this season has forced them to reconsider. It is claimed, however, that Milan are wanting to do business at a low-cost, which could price them out of a deal for Ogbonna if West Ham play hardball. David Moyes has come in until the end of the season at West Ham and may not want to part ways with the Italian defender. Milan are attracted to Ogbonna due to his previous experience in the Serie A.
