Daryl Murphy linked with move to Sunderland

Daryl Murphy linked with move to Sunderland According to The Gazette, Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy is being linked with a move to Sunderland, along with a number of fellow Championship sides. Murphy helped Newcastle gain promotion last season with his six goals but the club are set to sell him as they prepare for their return to the Premier League. Murphy is in a sought after striker due to his great Championship goal-scoring record so there’s no reason why Sunderland won’t be interested as they try and get back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. With the departure of Jermain Defoe to Bournemouth, the Black Cats are in the market to sign a new striker and Murphy is on their list but it may not happen unless it’s a short-term deal as they are low on funds. Murphy had this to say last month “Rafa is a top, top manager. He texted me after the Uruguay game to say well done. “I spoke to him last week about my future and he thanked me for what I had done and said they were going to listen to a few offers. I said ‘that’s fine’. “I always knew I had been brought in there to do a specific job, to help the club get promoted. I had no illusions that I was going to be starting for Newcastle in the Premier League if we got up.

Newcastle United appear to be on the lookout for a striker this summer and according to the Chronicle, they are hopeful of pipping Fulham to the signing of Diego Rolan.

The Bordeaux forward is looking set for a summer exit from the French club and although Fulham appeared to be leading the race, the Magpies are still in with a genuine chance of landing him.

A full Uruguay international, Rolan is ready for a new challenge. He’s said to be keen on making his mark in the Premier League and is relishing the prospect of a test away from Bordeaux.

The 24-year-old would reportedly be available for a fee of just £5 million this summer; something that would certainly appeal to Rafa Benitez as he looks to add more firepower to his attacking ranks.

Piazon signs for Fulham on loan

Fulham have officially confirmed the deal, via their Twitter (see below), with Piazon set to link up with his teammates next week. Twitter: | The Club is pleased to announce that Lucas Piazon will be returning on a season-long loan from Chelsea.… (@FulhamFC) Although, he is no stranger to the Fulham squad having spent time on loan at Craven Cottage last campaign. The Brazilian scored six goals in 29 games last season in all competitions, with the club eager to bring him back for next season. Antonio Conte has sanctioned the move, given that he was unlikely to break into the Chelsea side. The 23-year-old will now be able to get a full season of regular game time before Chelsea make a decision on his future next summer. Piazon has been at Chelsea since 2011.

Fulham appear to hold the most interest in Rolan, with the Cottagers having already made an offer, but the striker would surely prefer a switch to Newcastle given the attraction of Premier League football.
