Saints in talks over Vietto move

Saints in talks over Vietto move Southampton are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid forward Luciano Vietto this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol. Twitter: Southampton in talks to sign Atlético Madrid striker Luciano Vietto. Scored 10 goals on loan at Sevilla last season. Sampdoria want him too (@SkyKaveh) The Argentinian forward spent last season on loan at Atletico’s fellow La Liga competitors Sevilla, where he managed to net ten times. Vietto found first-team football hard to come by under Jorge Sampaoli last season, making just 14 starts in the league and coming on for seven substitute appearances. Despite this though, he still managed to finish the campaign with a decent return of goals, and this has evidently attracted the interest of Southampton. While Sampdoria are cited with interest by Solhekol, Saints are sure to possess the stronger financial position in a deal and Atletico may be tempted to sell. Saints sold Jay Rodriguez to West Brom for a fee of £12m this summer, and could be keen to replace him with another striker – possibly Vietto.

Sampdoria have offered £6m plus £1.5m in add-ons for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to Sky in Italy.

Wilshere has one year remaining on his Arsenal contract and spent last season on loan at Bournemouth.

His season at the Vitality Stadium was cut short when he fractured his leg against Tottenham in April. The 25-year-old has been capped 34 times by England.

Wilshere has been reportedly linked with a loan move to Crystal Palace, and Sampdoria, who finished 10th in Serie A last season, have now entered the running.

However, Wenger said at the weekend that he expects Wilshere to stay at Arsenal and fight for first-team football.

"I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes," said Wenger.

"I will give you a very focused answer on that. He has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team.

"But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from practising with the team."

Arsenal reject £6.2m from Sampdoria for Jack Wilshere .
According to the Express, the Gunners have rejected a £6.2m bid from Italian outfit Sampdoria for outcast Jack Wilshere and have reportedly said they want £8.8 million if the 25-year-old was to leave the Emirates permanently. Injury-hit Wilshere now has just 12 months left on his current Arsenal contract having recently returned from the South coast, on loan at Bournemouth. During his time with the Cherries, he managed 29 games before an injury ended his season. Although his loan was successful, his future is far from clear and it appears likely to leave Arsenal this summer. With Sampdoria reportedly very keen on the midfielder, it’s thought they will raise their offer in the near future. However, the Italian side are not the only side after Wilshere and other sides such as West Ham are keen on a loan deal for the 25-year-old. With all the interest in the England international, Arsene Wenger has spoken out saying: “He has to work hard and fight for a place in the team.” This, therefore, hints Wenger maybe is keen to give Wilshere another chance at the Emirates.
