Redskins can't agree on value of Kirk Cousins because they're the Redskins

Redskins can't agree on value of Kirk Cousins because they're the Redskins Two straight 4,000 yard passing seasons apparently don't set a value for a player on the Redskins' roster.According to a report from Pro Football Talk, sources say that some value Cousins higher than others in the organization and the team cannot come to an agreement on what to pay him.

Washington also could tag Cousins and trade him for less than two first-round picks. If the Redskins don’t step up it won’t matter to Cousins . Who ever said the 49 ers wanted Kirk Cousins ?!? I seriously doubt any GM is giving up gold (2nd Overall Pick) for Kirk !

The San Francisco 49 ers need a quarterback this offseason, and Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins is a possible target. Not yet at least, which means another franchise tag is in order. What the 49 ers Would Have to Give Up .

Kirk Cousins is happy to earn his $23.94 million guaranteed playing under the Redskins' franchise tag again. The quarterback and team officials, as expected, failed to hammer out a long-term deal before Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for him to stay in Washington beyond the 2017 season.

That means Cousins, who would be ludicrously expensive to tag for a third straight offseason, will be a free agent in 2018. Well, sort of.

It just means the 49ers can start drawing up his new six-year contract anytime now. Everything GM John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan have done offensively in their first offseason with San Francisco has been made with Cousins on their minds for Year 2.

The Redskins have really messed this up ( Redskins Fan). Now, you are stuck with each other. Life will not be over for the Redskins if Kirk Cousins leaves. — If you can’t set yourself up for life on millilon then there is something wrong with you !

The Redskins intend to put the franchise tag on quarterback Kirk Cousins . A second trade partner allows the Washington brass to drive the price up for their passer, who it increasingly seems like would only be in Burgundy and Gold for the 2017 season and not long-term.

Shanahan brought the familiar offense. Then came the stopgap starter, fellow former Michigan State QB Brian Hoyer, an ersatz Cousins. A day later came Cousins' former go-to wide receiver in Washington, Pierre Garcon. Then the 49ers passed on Mitchell Trubisky and drafted only a third string-type, C.J. Beathard.

San Francisco also could have gone crazy spending to rebuild one of the NFL's worst overall rosters. Instead, according to OverTheCap.com, the 49ers are sitting a league-high $66.2 million under the salary cap.

Schematically, monetarily and personally, there's no situation in the NFL that can match for Cousins, leading off with Washington. There's not much negotiating to be done for San Francisco, because it's already done it in the most non-tampering way possible.

Redskins says Kirk Cousins 'prefers to play on a year-to-year basis'

Redskins says Kirk Cousins 'prefers to play on a year-to-year basis' After the team was unable to reach a long-term agreement with their quarterback, Redskins president Bruce Allen released a statement.Redskins president Bruce Allen released a statement Monday, saying he met with Cousins in person and the sixth-year quarterback and his agent "made it clear" Cousins prefers to play on a one-year deal.

Otherwise, Washington will be stuck with paying Cousins .94 million for 2017. There is no way the Redskins let Cousins walk or tag and trade him. So think about this we trade him for a nice mid 1st (no team giving up a top 5 for Kirk imo) and say a 4th on top of that, we spend about 40mil on our

Potential Redskins - 49 ers Kirk Cousins Trade. The Redskins can just apply the franchise tag to Cousins , who could still negotiate with other teams if that were the case. I've set up a poll below, and you can comment as well.

It all has left Cousins in a dream scenario: locked up now and bound to see something even more lucrative later, in the prime of the career. It doesn't matter if Cousins doesn't play as well as he has the past two seasons. As long as he doesn't have a major injury in the Teddy Bridgewater vein, he will be a 49er.

Cousins went all in on himself, and he's winning, especially now that he has his friends in the right place. He gave the Redskins two chances to come through, and they didn't. Despite how much they shelled out to him the past two years, he has been treated like a stopgap starter.

Lynch knows what one fiery leader, Derek Carr, is doing on the other side of the Bay. Shanahan just helped a similar QB, Matt Ryan, to MVP honors and a Super Bowl XLVI run. Although Cousins has starred under Jay Gruden, his boom potential was developed under Shanahan. The Jedi-Padawan relationship is strong with them, and it's a force backed by a pile of galactic credits.

While there's no clarity over the impending free agency of Jimmy Garoppolo because of what Tom Brady and the Patriots may or may not do after 2017, it's crystal-clear with Cousins. The Jets' unofficial tank mode also means there's no clear shot at the No. 1 draft pick and USC's Sam Darnold, either.

NFL teams like to spend big for as much certainty as possible, and Cousins succeeding with Shanahan again is as close as it comes.

The 49ers have the gold, and their patience will pay off, too, as they will gladly pay Cousins in 2018.

When Kirk Cousins says little about Washington's past and present, he says a lot .
Kirk Cousins has seen quarterbacks dragged in Washington. Now he sees management's recent history, and he is just fine watching what they do now.In this case, it's pretty smart. He looks good, especially by comparison to the aforementioned inept franchise.
