  Slattery signs three-year contract extension Southampton have announced that midfielder Callum Slattery has signed a new three-year deal with the club. Slattery has put pen to paper on a contract to take his time with the Saints to 2020, committing his long-term future to the club. Speaking to Read Southampton last year, Slattery said this about working his way into the first-team: “Hopefully – the club is becoming bigger and bigger so it’s getting harder and harder, but the club’s all about giving youngsters a chance, so I have to have trust in the club.” The midfielder has been with the club since he was eight and has featured for England at various youth levels over the years. Slattery becomes the latest player to commit his future to Southampton, with Jack Stephens and Sam Gallagher signing new deals in recent weeks. The teenager is set to continue his progression with the development squad next season and will be hoping to push on into Mauricio Pellegrino’s first-team squad. Southampton are due to begin their pre-season preparations later this summer and Slattery could have the chance to impress in the friendlies.

West Ham starlet Ajibola Alese is attracting interest from Liverpool and Man City. The east Londoners also tied down Reece Oxford, who had been linked with both Manchester giants, to a new four-and-a-half year contract in December.

West Ham pride themselves on their academy and they’ve recently agreed terms with one of their brightest young prospects.

All Nigeria Soccer are reporting that talented defender Ajibola Alese has signed a deal to become a first-year scholar in the West Ham academy and is on course to be offered professional terms further down the line.

Alese is a regular at U16 level but did make seven appearances at U18 last season which illustrates how highly the club think of him

Capped at England U16 level coming from a Nigerian family, Alese has been reportedly a target for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City but recent infringements regarding youth player transfers from the Premier League duo ended a potential move for Alese.

The centre-back can be offered a professional deal after he turns 17 and has the potential to enjoy a great career at the club.

West Ham have a number of talented centre-backs coming through at the moment and sooner or later they will be handed an opportunity.
