Everton attempt to hijack deal for Ajax defender One of the busiest clubs so far in the transfer window so far in the Premier League are attempting to hijack a deal for a Palace target, in the shape of Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald, according to the Liverpool Echo. The 20-year-old has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs in the transfer window so far with the Eagles showing the strongest interest and intent for the £8.6m-rated defender. Riedewald has played under Frank De Boer in the past during his spell at Ajax and would be keen to link up with the experienced manager, however, a late bid from Everton could have an affect on this. Ronald Koeman’s side feature in the Europa League this season and have made a number of good signings so far in the current window, which could be seen as a more attractive proposition for the Netherlands international, who has featured for the national side on three occasions since August 2015. Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald is seemingly on the brink of securing a move to Crystal Palace.

Frank de Boer is poised to make the Dutchman his second signing of the summer, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s loan move from Chelsea being the first man through the door in the new boss’ reign.

Riedewald is looking set to pen a deal with Palace in the near future, with an £8m deal between the two clubs set to be struck.

De Boer will know Riedewald from his days in the Eredivisie and will be keen to see what his trusted defender can do in the Premier League.

£10m rated Ajax defender chooses Palace over Everton

£10m rated Ajax defender chooses Palace over Everton Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald has been linked with a move to the Premier League and he has already chosen Crystal Palace over Everton, according to a report from Football London. The young Dutch centre-back is valued at £10m and was one of the stand-out players last season for Dutch giants Ajax. The 20-year-old had a choice between Palace and Everton and he has chosen Palace to be re-united with his former boss Frank de Boer. The youngster was given his senior debut at Ajax by De Boer when he was in charge in 2013 and since then, Riedewald has been a constant figure in the first team. Palace are close to agreeing a deal with Ajax and although the Eagles were worried about Everton’s interest in the defender, the Merseyside club seemingly expressed their interest too late as he had already made up his mind. Riedewald has three caps for Holland and is one of the most highly-rated prospects in Dutch football. It is no secret that De Boer is looking to strengthen his defensive unit with the London club being linked with various centre-backs and this Riedewald deal should be tied up soon.

Crystal Palace have reportedly fought off interest from Everton to close in on a deal to sign Jairo Riedewald from Ajax for an initial fee of £7. 5 m.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Jairo Riedewald according to reports in Holland on Wednesday morning. The 20 year old central defender can also play as a defensive midfielder and Crystal Palace are also credited with interest.

So, just what will the 20-year-old bring to Palace? I’ve taken a look at five positive aspects of Riedewald’s likely arrival in South London.

Everton pull out of Riedewald race .
According to De Telegraaf, as quoted by Sport Witness, Crystal Palace will sign Jairo Riedewald in the next 24 hours, as Everton manager Ronald Koeman will prefer other options. Riedewald will be Crystal Palace’s second signing this summer and this week, after they announced on Wednesday that they signed Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season long loan. The Ajax defender, who can also play in defensive midfield, will be joining fellow countryman Frank De Boer at Palace for his debut season at Selhurst Park and Riedewald could be a huge boost for him as he tries to better Palace’s 14th place finish last campaign. Dutch manager Ronald Koeman was keen to bring Riedewald to his club Everton in the last few days, but he will seek other options. This may mean he isn’t done with his transfer business this summer, even though he’s already brought in six new players, including Riedewald’s ex-Ajax teammate Davy Klaassen. It was reported in January that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing the versatile 20-year-old but he decided to stay put at Ajax.
