  Aston Villa linked with Jon Walters Aston Villa are reportedly keen on a move to sign Stoke City striker Jon Walters this summer. According to a report from the Telegraph ( h/t Mirror) today, Steve Bruce has identified Walters as a target and could make an offer to lure him away from the Potters, with the transfer window having opened last week. The Villa manager is appearing to be keen on acquiring proven, Premier League players this summer as he gears up for a promotion push next season. This prompted him to add John Terry to his squad today off the back of the former England international’s release from Chelsea at the end of the season. Walters has somewhat fallen out of favour at the Bet365 Stadium, with Mark Hughes favouring other attacking options ahead of him. The Republic of Ireland international has just one year on his contract at Stoke and with him now being 33-years-old, he could seek a new challenge.

Barring an unexpected hitch, Jon Walters remains on course to join the Irish contingent at Burnley with the clubs having agreed a fee of around €2.3 million plus add -ons that could bring the final Walters had a year left on his existing deal, signed last summer, but in addition to getting two years

Burnley made an attempt to sign the frontman last week only for their “derisory” six-figure offer to be rebuffed out of hand. Stoke demanded £3m, and in the end, they got it. Walters now joins an ever-growing Irish contingent at Burnley .

Burnley have signed Jonathan Walters from Stoke City in a deal worth up to £3million, the forward becoming the club's fifth Republic of Ireland international.

Walters joins fellow Ireland players Jeff Hendrick, Stephen Ward, Robbie Brady and Kevin Long at Turf Moor after signing a two-year contract on Friday.

The 33-year-old, who has 49 caps for Ireland, scored 62 goals in 271 appearances in all competitions for Stoke during his seven years with the Potters.

Walters is Burnley's second signing ahead of the new Premier League season, joining Charlie Taylor at the club after the left-back agreed a move from Leeds United.

The deals come after Burnley sold Michael Keane to Everton this week in a deal that could rise in value to £30m.

Burnley sign Swansea's Cork .
Burnley have signed Jack Cork from Swansea on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee. It will be the second time Cork has used the home changing room at Turf Moor, the 28-year-old midfielder having made 57 appearances for Burnley while on loan from Chelsea seven years ago.Cork told Burnley's website: "It's great to be back. I've got some great memories from the year-and-a-half I was here and it's good to come back and see some old faces."It's good to come back and try and have another go here, especially in the Premier League.
