The latest on Carles Gil's future away from Villa Park

The latest on Carles Gil's future away from Villa Park According to the Birmingham Mail, Spanish side Deportivo La Coruna are expected to step up their pursuit of permanently signing Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil in the coming weeks. Former West Brom manager Pepe Mell, now manager at Deportivo, sees Gil as part of his plans for the coming season and is interested in keeping the little Spaniard at the club. Gil has stated his desire to stay at Deportivo, who he made 24 appearances for last season as they avoided the drop from La Liga, and he is hoping that negotiations between the two clubs can be settled as quickly as possible. The 24-year-old would prefer it if a deal could be made before Villa players are due to report back to Boodymoor Heath next month. Fellow La Liga side Real Betis are also reportedly in signing Gil, but at this stage, it looks like a return to Deportivo is more likely.

Wantaway Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil is set to trigger a bidding war in the coming weeks with both Real Betis and Deportivo La Coruna chasing his signature, according to the Birmingham Mail.

Aston Villa are willing to sell the 24-year-old Spaniard with both La Liga clubs said to be preparing bids for his services.

It is believed that Gil would prefer a permanent move to Deportivo La Coruna after spending last season on loan at the club, however Real Betis are said to be desperate to sign the player.

Gil scored just once in 24 appearances for Deportivo last season but he has done enough to convince Deportivo Boss Pepe Mel to pursue a permanent transfer.

Pepe Mel has made a permanent deal for Gil one of his top priorities this summer and Gil is hoping to seal a move away from Villa Park before Villa report back for pre-season training at the beginning of next month.

Aston Villa paid Valencia just over £3million for Gil two and a half years ago and they will be hoping to recoup most of that money in a deal for him this summer.

Aston Villa demand more from Sevilla for Jordan Amavi .
Aston Villa have told Sevilla to double their offer for full-back Jordan Amavi after Villa rejected the first bid tabled by the La Liga side, according to MARCA.. Amavi looks increasingly likely to leave Villa Park this summer as the Championship side look to raise funds for new signings. Villa chairman Tony Xia bragged that the club rejected a £25million bid for Amavi in January, but the Financial Fair Play restrictions on the club now mean that they are willing to accept a much lower offer for the player. Sevilla made an opening bid of £5.3million for the defender’s services but Villa are wanting to recoup the £9million they paid Nice for the 23-year-old back in 2015. Amavi struggled for form at Villa last season as Steve Bruce’s side slumped to a 13th place finish in the Championship, with the Villa boss reportedly placing Amavi on the transfer list as a result of his inconsistency.
