PRO BASKETBALL TALKPBT Select Team. Lonzo Ball is going second (or, maybe, third) in this NBÀ Draft because he can pass the rock. The guys at Sports Science decided to put that to the test and see if he could pass through a moving SUV driven by his father, LaVar.

ESPN’s Sports Science visited the Ball family recently and asked Lonzo, the oldest Ball son and a top NBA Draft prospect, to try to pass a basketball through the windows of a moving vehicle.

With his father LaVar driving the Cadillac Escalade and youngest brother LaMelo in the passenger seat, Lonzo pulled off the task, his younger brother LiAngelo on the receiving end of the pass.

As Sports Science host John Brenkus points out, Lonzo had an ultra-thin margin of error. With the SUV traveling at over 10 mph, Lonzo released the ball about four feet from the car. The ball’s speed was 31.1 mph, clearing the driver side window by about three inches and the passenger side window with just 0.25 seconds to spare. Had Lonzo’s pass been just slower by 1 mph, the stunt would have failed.

Ball has had two workouts with the Lakers, who are slotted in Thursday night’s draft to pick second overall, the earliest Lonzo will be selected (the 76ers are planning to take Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick after acquiring it in a trade with the Celtics). Perhaps the pass through the Cadillac will convince L.A. that Ball is their man.
