Sakho open to Liverpool return

Sakho open to Liverpool return Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has been the subject of much controversy for some time now and since his move to Crystal Palace, he’s been earning plenty of plaudits. The towering Frenchman was shipped out on loan to the Eagles after it was made clear that there would be no route back into first-team contention at the club under Jurgen Klopp. Sakho secured a move to South London on the final day of the January transfer window and has since helped Palace to keep four clean sheets since his arrival. However, despite his clearly dysfunctional relationship with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, the powerful centre-back has insisted that he’d still be open to a return to the club, as quoted by Telefoot, and would still be willing to show his worth at Anfield. “I still have a contract for three more years. If I were to wear the Liverpool jersey again, I would be happy to do so. I was late for training, something that happens everywhere.” Sakho has been imperious in the short amount of time he’s been with Palace and with Liverpool’s defence still seemingly shaky, Klopp may have some thinking to do. “I paid a fine and I do not know what else I can do. It is up to the boss. He makes the decisions and I can only accept that. And we will see what happens if my future is elsewhere.

Since arriving from Liverpool on loan for the rest of the season at the end of the January transfer window, Mamadou Sakho has been nothing short of a revelation for the Eagles.

In his seven Premier League appearances thus far, Crystal Palace have won five games (doubling their season total), lost just once, conceded just five goals and kept four clean sheets – it’s been a remarkable turnaround over the last two months.

Crystal Palace are hopeful of signing him on a permanent basis, despite the loan contract not containing a purchasing option, and the Eagles will face intense competition for his signature.

According to Calciomercato, AS Roma want to sign Sakho in the summer as a replacement for the Inter Milan bound Kostas Manolas and they are at the front of the queue to do so.

It’s claimed that Sakho’s market value now stands at about £30m, which is in the ballpark of Palace’s club record transfer fee they shelled out to bring Christian Benteke to the club last summer.

Mamadou Sakho injury not as bad as first feared .
Mamadou Sakho has been a revelation since his loan arrival from Liverpool during the January transfer window, helping solidify a once-porous Crystal Palace defence. The Frenchman was an integral part of Sam Allardyce’s side that had climbed out of the relegation zone and on the verge of safety before he suffered a knee injury during the 1-0 home defeat to Tottenham. Sakho was stretchered off with what was first feared to be a severe knee ligament injury which could sideline him for a number of months but initial reports appear wide of the mark. Twitter: Mamadou Sakho did not suffer cruciate injury. Scans show bruising and strained ligaments. Stays at Palace in case fit 4 Man U on May 21. (@_pauljoyce) Paul Joyce of the Times claims that Sakho did not suffer a cruciate knee ligament injury and that scans show only bruising and strained ligaments – with no serious or long-term damage. Sakho will stay at Palace instead of returning to Liverpool for treatment as there remains faint hopes that the France international can get back to full fitness for the game against Manchester United on May 21st.
