We're here for all of the cheers and the jeers, because it's baseball. You can't have a winner without someone losing along the way. This week, we have some hot and cold outfielders, along with some evidence that robotic umpires may not be such a bad idea. Up: Yoenis Cespedes goes on a grand home run tour Yoenis Cespedes may not be the league leader in home runs anymore — trust me, we'll get to that later — but he made a strong surge to the top of the dinger leadearboard this past week.

Claim to fame: Has been voted the worst umpire in Major League Baseball by the players on three separate occasions: 2003, 2006, and 2010. Players may also resent that Bucknor is unafraid of making controversial calls — calls that can make him the focus of the game .

Rotten umpiring is often excused by people who say, "Well, at least he was bad for both sides." Well, no, that just means the ump was bad.

And to hear both sides tell it, CB Bucknor was rotten Tuesday night.

Bucknor had the plate for the Nationals-Braves game in Atlanta. Let's just say his strike zone judgment was . . . impaired, especially on this Jayson Werth at-bat.

The arguments about camera angles/strike zone technology being misleading don't hold water here. That's just not good work.

The Marlins tonight won their 59th game of the season, over the Phillies, no thanks to this call at first by umpire CB Bucknor . But Jimenez curls around behind Yelich and waves his glove toward Bucknor . Somehow he sells it.

There was also this blown call on what everyone but Bucknor thought was a game-ending strikeout. Bucknor called it a foul tip, which is not reviewable.

After the Nats had nailed down a 3-1 victory, Werth gave Bucknor an earful.

Again, this is after a Nationals win. Imagine what would have happened (or been said) had the Nats lost.

The too-easy response is that calling balls and strikes is difficult, no one's perfect, and no one should argue. There's no excuse for Bucknor being that bad, though. He's a 20-year major league veteran. He has zero excuses.
